Cardinal Gerhard Müller's dismissal as Prefect of the Congregation for the Doctrine of the Faith on 30 June 2017 hit him like a bolt from the blue.
This is what he tells in the new interview book In buona fede (In good faith). The day before his dismissal (!), Francis had publicly embraced him after Mass and assured him of his trust.
The next morning, at an audience dealing with routine matters, Francis sacked him: "You have fulfilled your mandate. I thank you for your work." Francis never gave a reason.
Müller found out that Francis carefully planned the dismissal and immediately contacted Müller's successor, the Spanish Jesuit Luis Ladaria, by telephone after the deed was done.
For Müller, this procedure is symptomatic, since other curia staff members were also dismissed in a perfidious manner and without giving reasons.

Among other things, Müller accuses Francis of having a “magic circle” around him of theologically dubious advisors, of being inconsistent in his approach to sex abuse cases, and of being sometimes impulsive in his judgments.

This is great.....and Archbishop Vigano just preached yesterday a long sermon calling Francis what he is, a tyrant and a heretic on the Chair of Peter.
