The Church is NOT. A polish church. It’s an ordinary parish church with a regular Polish mass. Now, if only there was a common language that could be used in the liturgy there won’t be all these separate Masses. The Sacred Heart Church in Balham is tucked away in a quiet neighbourhood, the Police would have been called in by someone. Perhaps a regular parishioner angry at the Polish community? Who knows. As the British police aren’t in the habit of coming in and unlike these two muppets, would usually be very polite. They were called in to my church too, BY A PARISHIONER who also worked for the Church and who hated the TLM. He took photos of maskless people and sent it to the police. The police came the following Sunday at 11 am only to the TLM. Not any other Sunday Masses. They stood respectfully at the back and took notes but didn’t interrupt anything. No one wears masks at the TLM. But the parish priest has notices plastered everywhere about the covid rules on gathering. Then at the London oratory too the police turned up because - yes that’s correct - A PARISHIONER COMPLAINED. A woman had said that she wasn’t happy about the opening up of the side chapels on Easter Sunday, and the slight reduction in distance between the benches in the body of the church, she threatened a priest and then called the police. In Paris where a priest has been arrested, it was a family member of someone baptised on the day that called the police. The police have to act if a citizen complains. Some police are clever at policing and others ( like many on GTV readership too) are stupid. At least these didn’t shoot and kneel on the priest’s neck.
Thanks to the suffering of the Poles in Balham, the other Catholics in England can now feel relieved and will be left very much alone. I accept the apology of the police chiefs. And the local Bishop and the Polish community does too.
