Manaus Cardinal Leonardo Steiner, Brazil, has reiterated his 2014 support for state-sponsored homosex concubinages.
Speaking to LifeSiteNews.com (September 2), he spread the illusion that such unions were about “obtaining financial security for homosexuals.” If that were true, this "security" would have to be offered not only to homosexuals, but also to non-sexual residential communities of people who want to claim such privileges.
Despite a rampant promiscuity among homosexuals, Steiner fuels the fantasy that many homosexuals are living together until the "end" of their lives "without security," "without health services," and "without money." He quotes Francis who has spoken many times about this.
But many ordinary Brazilians live this way. Why does Steiner only care about privileged homosexuals?
When asked if he - a Cardinal - accepts the biblical condemnation of homosexual acts, Steiner replied evasively and embarrassed himself by saying, "How can we say that it is a sin if they …More

Neo-Cardinal says homosex is not sinful for non-Christians: Using the logic of not wanting to impose confessional morals on non-Christians, Cardinal Steiner claims that the Church should not try to make society follow its beliefs.

One good thing about him is he's going to be 72.

Hopefully when we agaun very soon have a Catholic Pope, this kind of filth will not even be spoken of let alone supported. I wish God would somehow save His Church and get rid of Francis by whatever means he chooses, then by some miracle and intercession to the Holy Spirit and Virgin Mary, we might be blessed with a Catholic Pope. @Kenjiro M. Yoshimori This Pope is drunk on modernism and should be called on it. In times past, for the good of his soul and Holy Mother Church the Cardinals would have called a special council and put him on trial for heresy. Francis would either publicly recant every error that he has promulgated or if he persists, then he would be deposed and a new orthodox Pope elected. Francis will be Francis …More

Francis will be Francis but the responsibility of correcting him falls on Cardinals and Bishops. Presently you can count on one hand the number of bishops with the courage to do what needs to be done. But your right, and I in no way wish any harm upon him as I would rather see his repentance and conversion, but God may intervene and remove him in the near future.

"This kind of filth." Good phrase. It describes so much of the Church today.

@philosopher Sadley at this point the College of Cardinals and Bishops no longer practice the Faith. They can not stand for that they do not believe!

When asked if he - a Cardinal - accepts the biblical condemnation of homosexual acts, Steiner replied evasively and embarrassed himself by saying, "How can we say that it is a sin if they don't live the Christian faith?" If Steiner's objection were true, it would be better to keep all people ignorant about Christianity in order to save them from sin, including murder.

Keeping people ignorant of the truth has been the basic strategy of neo-casuists for a very long time. It was garbage like this that moved John Paul II to write Veritatis splendor. The fact that this, not even 30 year old encyclical, has been trashed should tell everyone all they need to know about what constitutes the “magisterium” in the post-conciliar era. This guy’s knowledge of theology …More

This guy’s knowledge of theology probably consists of reading summaries of Rahner and Kung, and not much else.
