Fraternity of Saint Peter: Former Rector of Seminary Pleads Guilty

Father James Jackson, 68, a former rector of the FSSP seminary in the United States, has pleaded guilty to a federal charge of child pornography. Prosecutors will therefore seek the mandatory minimum sentence of five years in prison and dismiss a second count of possession of child pornography, a spokesman for the U.S. Attorney's Office, told CatholicNewsAgency.com. His trial is scheduled for June 20. Jackson still faces pending criminal charges related to a child pornography investigation in Kansas.

I think we have to look deeper. Our Lord, Jesus Christ, is The Innocent yet did not defend Himself. He allowed the evil to sweep over Him and entrusted Himself to The Father. He did not seek the justice of human courts for He Is Justice. This man pled guilty. If he was innocent, would be have pled guilty? Would a person innocent of a crime plead guilty so as to receive a lighter sentence? Maybe. …More

If he is guilty and his plea is truthful, there is hope. I think we Catholics need to meditate on this. We spend too much time defending ourselves when we are guilty or innocent. Should we not follow Christ's example?

Yes. May he repent, and may his punishment purify him.

Satan can disguise himself as an angel of light

What he did is beyond heinous! Pray for the child victims.

He admitted he did it...what else can you say? He's guilty.

Please pray for him as he has taken the first step toward forgiveness.

Do we really think that Satan would not target the SSPX and the FSSP after having successfully infiltrated the visible institution of the Catholic Church at the Vatican?

Sexuality/porn is a big problem for all today.

Agree with everything said above. However, voices from the four winds insisted he was innocent so there is a lesson to be learnt here. Satan is after all priests - especially traditional ones. Just because a priest may say the Traditional Mass doesn't mean he is a saint. We ourselves found that out the hard way. A very humanist attitude has grown within the traditional movement of late - its like "we say/go to the Latin Mass so occasions of sin can't effect us". Really? Guaranteed, the more "we look". the more "we read", the more "we watch", the more our standards will slip. It's Satan's voice who says "but you are a mature discerning adult now...". It's the same voice that gave us Vatican II; history repeating itself. Yes, we will definitely pray for Father - that he finds the will power to embrace a lot of personal sacrifice and quiet solitude in front of the Blessed Sacrement; the only cure.

We really don't know enough to judge. Pray, pray, pray and make sacrifices.

We know he pled guilty. So I'm judging, based on the fact that he acknowledged he did it. I'm not judging as God judges, but I'm judging his guilt based on the brain that God gave me to judge right from wrong actions.
