Gibson Supports Cancelled Priests: “Bishops Are Bunch Of Hirelings”

Mel Gibson supported a September 10 Chicago rosary rally of the “Coalition for Cancelled Priests” including "suspended" Father James Altman.
The bishops who persecute their priests tolerate any kind of nonsense, Gibson denounced, "but if one of their priests utters something that resembles orthodoxy then they spring into action" and "drum him out of the service.”
Gibson calls this "white martyrdom" and a sign of "a very deep sickness of the Church." He agrees with Archbishop Viganò's truism that the misery started with the failed Vatican II.
When Gibson wanted support for his 2004 Passion of Christ he approached the US Bishops, “Those men couldn't get away from me fast enough and all but a few of them turned their back on me.” This way, they revealed who they were: "a pretty insipid bunch - and it doesn't look like anything changed.”
Gibson remembers the good, old priests who in the 1970s were persecuted by the bishops because they saw the damage the New Liturgy and the senseless Vatican …More

WE must remember that the USCCB movie reviewers initially gave the Passion of the Christ the worst rating possible "O" - offensive to all! It was changed to a better rating only after a public outcry/backlash. Also the same reviewers gave the gay -themed Brokeback Mountain a good rating!

Mel has dealt with some of the worst in his business; he can see it, and smell it, in the current Church.

Eastern Catholic Melkite
Mr Bergogolio and his college of cardinals, archbishops, bishops and priests of the novus ordo sect have been deceiving the Catholic faithful since 2013 Bergoglio has usurped the throne of St Peter by preaching heresies and passing it down his to his faithful companions 😡 😡 😡

Mel: I think that the vast majority of these bishops are just a bunch of hirelings. And my question is, who's hiring them? I don't think it's Jesus. Is it Francis? Who's hiring Francis? Is it Pachamama?

Mel Gibson: “I remember, when I directed ’The Passion’, I went to the USCCB to get support for the film. And those men couldn’t get away from me fast enough. And all but a few of them turned their backs on me. It was pretty telling about who they were.”

The Roman Catholic Church didn't want to support a movie showing how the Romans killed Christ. ;-) :D

He is being charitable by saying just that.

Indeed he was: it was a very specific group of Jewish leaders in one city who've been dead for 2000 years. Worth noting Mel was pretty clear those men didn't represent ALL Jews even at that time since he depicted St. Simon of Cyrene as a Jew.
One of the Roman legionaries even spits the word "Jew" at St. Simon (pic related). Check 1:05 on this handy scene from The movie. youtube.com/watch?v=…More

Since you can't read minds and you aren't God, you don't know what is on their conscience, @Steve D :P Heck, you can't even quote Douay-Rheims without lousing it up... as a "correction" no less. :P

"Besides, many (not all) Jews continued to persecute Christians throughout the Book of Acts."

You were discussing (and I quote) "who was responsible for killing Christ, " Not who chose "to persecute Christians throughout the Book of Acts." -after Christ was dead.

That's a popular Jew-hater tactic. Proven wrong? Move the goal-posts!

Overwhelmingly, pagans, not Jews, persecuted and ultimately martyred early Christians. But like always, you're not focusing on the persecution, you're focusing on Jews.

...because that's what you miserable mindless Jew-haters always do. Two millenia, you were the fascist goonspitting in St. Simon's face. Today you pretend to be Catholic, but your kind never change.

Gibson isn’t perfect, but he made what is, by far, the most Catholic, high production value movie about the life of Christ that has ever been made. He used Bl. Anne Catherine Emmerich and John’s Gospel for his guides. Going to the bishops’ conference was a very good idea, in order to promote the movie to Catholics. No offense intended here, @John A Cassani but that first sentence just ain't true. Franco Zeffirelli's "Jesus Of Nazareth" beats The Passion on jus about every point, except clinical accuracy for The Crucifixion.
For starters, Zeffirelli covered the entirety of Jesus' life, from the Annunciation right through The Passion. It was longer, (shown in the US as a TV mini-series) had a bigger budget …More

For starters, Zeffirelli covered the entirety of Jesus' life, from the Annunciation right through The Passion. It was longer, (shown in the US as a TV mini-series) had a bigger budget (adjusted for inflation), it was reverential, non-revisionist, and, best of all...

Zeffirelli was able to secure legendary, Oscar-winning stars even for just 'bit' parts and they all turned in superb performances. The cast-list is like a who's who of the best actors from that era. Seriously... check this out...

If I remember correctly, Zeffirelli's film portrays Mary being in pain during childbirth. That at least undermines the concept of virginitas in partu--virgin during birth.
Dud you ever see Pasolini's Gospel Acc to Matthew?More

He says he went to the USCCB. To me, that tells a specific story. Well, I know more than one Vatican II-loving priest who was very enthusiastic about his work.
