Francis praised on September 2 in Mongolia an alleged tradition of religious freedom dating back to the time of Genghis Khan (+1227).
At its height, Genghis Khan's empire stretched as far as Hungary. The conquests caused the deaths of some 40M people, particularly in China and modern day Iran.
In Francis' revisionism the Mongol Empire “bears witness to the remarkable ability of your ancestors to recognise the outstanding qualities of the peoples present in its immense territory and to put these qualities at the service of a common development.” He added that “this model should be appreciated and re-proposed in our own time.”
The Church has had a “sanctioned” presence in Mongolia since 1992, after the country abandoned Soviet-allied communism. The government restricts the number of foreign missionaries and treats the Church as an NGO.

It’s beyond embarrassing now… “Pope Francis has praised Genghis Khan’s 13th-century Mongol empire for respecting religious freedom and unifying cultures, bypassing Khan’s history of massacring enemies as he swept across Asia.”

Since the dawn of creation, ALL man-contrived empires have had their birth in blood, agony and tears. And ALL who have established and maintained such thrones have done so leaving the smell of death and smoke behind them….Akkadian, Sumerian, Egyptian, Indus, Hittite, Assyrian, Babylonian, Persian, Macedonian, Ethiopian, Chinese, Roman, Byzantine, Aztec, Inca, Carolingian, Mongolian, Ottoman, …More

None are innocent.
The joy of the Faithful is that our Kingdom is not of this world, and that our King, who is the Prince of Peace, will rule the nations of the earth with a Rod of Iron, and the government shall be upon His shoulders and of His Kingdom there shall be no end.

"this model should be appreciated and re-proposed in our own time.” Another giant "gaffe" by Bergoglio that should bring only condemnation.

It is true that the Mongol conquests and what followed caused the deaths of 40 million people, mostly in China, but in also surrounding areas which at the time had their own empires.
In what is now Iran, the magnificent cities of Balkh, Tous, Merv and Nashapur where razed to the ground and its people slaughtered or enslaved and marched back to Mongolia. The Mongols got as far as the outskirts of Poland and Hungary in their conquests, but were finally defeated. The great Muslim city of Samarkand was also largely destroyed.
Early Franciscans in the 1200's traveled to Mongolia in attempts to convert the peoples, and were treated with contempt.
In time, much of the Mongol empire adopted Islam as their religion, but now are largely Buddhist.
Francis' comments about Genghis Khan were similar to the idiotic comments he made about Catherine the Great and Russia. And the reaction of people will probably be the same.
Good Riddance, Bergoglio. You don't know when to keep you mouth shut......and this goes for good American Catholics too.![😡](/emoji/f09f98a1)
