Ahead of celebrating Midnight Mass, Pope Leo XIV ventured into St. Peter’s Square to greet and bless the hundreds of pilgrims who could not fit into the Basilica for Mass and are braving the wind and heavy rain, saying “I admire and respect and thank you for your courage, and your wanting to be here this evening!”

Prima della liturgia, è uscito in Piazza San Pietro per salutare l'afflusso di fedeli che sono venuti nonostante il vento e la pioggia. Leó pápa jelenleg a karácsonyi éjféli Eucharisztiát celebrálja. A liturgia előtt kilépett a Szent Péter térre, hogy üdvözölje a hívek túláradó tömegét, akik a szél és az eső ellenére eljöttek. Megjegyezte, hogy bármennyire is hatalmas a Szent Péter-bazilika, mégsem tud befogadni mindenkit, aki összegyűlt. Felkérte a kint lévőket, hogy kövessék a misét a nagy képernyőkön, majd boldog karácsonyt kívánt mindenkinek, és hozzátette: "Csodálom önöket, tisztelem önöket, és köszönöm bátorságukat és azt a vágyukat, hogy ma este itt lehetnek".

El Papa León XIV celebra estos días la Eucaristía de medianoche de Navidad. Antes de la liturgia, salió a la plaza de San Pedro para saludar al desbordamiento de fieles que acudieron a pesar del viento y la lluvia. Señaló que, por muy vasta que sea la basílica de San Pedro, aún no puede acoger a todos los reunidos. Invitando a los que estaban fuera a seguir la misa en las grandes pantallas, León XIV deseó a todos una Feliz Navidad, añadiendo: "Os admiro, os respeto y os agradezco vuestro valor y vuestro deseo de estar aquí esta tarde".

Er wies darauf hin, dass der Petersdom, so groß er auch sein mag, dennoch nicht alle Versammelten aufnehmen kann. Leo XIV. lud die Menschen draußen ein, die Messe auf den großen Bildschirmen zu verfolgen, und wünschte allen ein frohes Weihnachtsfest: "Ich bewundere Sie, ich respektiere Sie und ich danke Ihnen für Ihren Mut und für Ihren Wunsch, heute Abend hier zu sein."
Der Petersdom kann nicht alle aufnehmen, aber für den Pride Sodo-Marsch hat Prevost Platz gemacht!
