[HILDEGARD OF BINGEN was born into a noble family in Bermersheim in 1098. At the age of eight her family gave her into the care of a religious noblewoman, Jutta of Spanheim, who took Hildegard with her to become a recluse at the Disibodenberg monastery. Some time between 1112 and 1115, when the monastery became a convent, Hildegard took religious vows. After Jutta’s death in 1136, Hildegard was elected abbess at Disibodenberg. At this time she started to write about the visions she had been experiencing. Her first work, Scivias, appeared with Papal approval in 1151, just after she had established her own religious community at Rupertsberg, near Bingen. Her collection of religious songs, the Symphonia, appeared in 1158. She then produced a number of other works, including The Book of Life’s Merits (c. 1163), The Book of Divine Works (c. 113), lives of local saints, and various musical, scientific and medical works. She also invented a private language, which formed the basis of two short …More
"Venerable Father Bernard, you are held wonderfully in high honour by the power of God. You are a terror to the unlawful foolishness of the world; you burn in the love of God’s son; you are eager to win men for the banner of the Holy Cross to fight wars in the Christian army against the fury of the pagans. Father, I ask you, by the living God, to attend to my questions."
Sweden’s public broadcaster edited President Donald Trump's January 6 speech in a way that misrepresented his message, much as the BBC has been accused of doing, the Kvartal newspaper has reported. SVT, which is publicly funded, edited footage of Trump’s 2021 speech at the Ellipse in Washington, D.C., omitting key moments where he called on supporters to behave “peacefully and patriotically,” according to Swedish outlet Kvartal. Newsweek has contacted SVT via email for comment. With the White House in the background, President Donald Trump speaks at a rally on January 6, 2021, in Washington, D.C. (AP Photo/Jacquelyn Martin) Why it Matters Kvartal's investigation into SVT parallels criticism recently faced by the BBC over similar edits in a Panorama documentary, which led to a public apology and resignations from the U.K. public broadcaster’s leadership. What To Know The edited segment, part of the broadcaster’s 2024 coverage of the January 2021 riots at the United States Capitol…

"Behind the label of backwardness is deep ecological wisdom, social philosophy, and a way of life shaped over thousands of years. Even before the Gospel arrived, God spoke through their culture, relationships, and understanding of the world." — Father Frans Lieshout, OFM.
[Saint Louis-Marie Grignion de Montfort – XVII-XVIII Century AD; Montfort-sur-Meu, France/Saint-Laurent-sur-Sèvre, France; Total consecration to Jesus through Mary] “Introduction 1. Here is a secret, chosen soul, which the most High God taught me and which I have not found in any book, ancient or modern. Inspired by the Holy Spirit, I am confiding it to you, with these conditions: a) That you share it only with people who deserve to know it because they are prayerful, give alms to the poor, do penance, suffer persecution, are unworldly, and work seriously for the salvation of souls. b) That you use this secret to become holy and worthy of heaven, for the more you make use of it the more benefit you will derive from it. Under no circumstances must you let this secret make you idle and inactive. It would then become harmful and lead to your ruin. c) That you thank God every day of your life for the grace he has given you in letting you into a secret that you do not deserve to know. As …More
"3. Chosen soul, living image of God and redeemed by the precious blood of Jesus Christ, God wants you to become holy like him in this life, and glorious like him in the next."
"2. Before you read any further, in an understandable impatience to learn this truth, kneel down and say devoutly the Ave Maris Stella (“Hail, thou star of ocean”), and the “Come, Holy Spirit”, to ask God to help you understand and appreciate this secret given by him."
