Originally from Iquitos, Peru, the author met Pope Leo XIV in Trujillo and shared conversations and daily life with him for years. His book paints a hagiography of Robert Prevost as a "simple man with a sense of humor and a great capacity to listen." Lovera explained that when Prevost was reported dead, it was "a young man, an Augustinian postulant, who died in a bus accident while traveling to Lima for the new year." I have determined that the problem with the Church, if that can be said, is that Catholics do not strive with all their hearts and minds to keep the presence of God. If we could see Our Blessed Lord we would always be on our best behaviour but we live as if He were absent except when we have formal times of prayer. It's very sad because the supernatural vision we have is diminished or lost. If only we all believed that God can make us great saints. Also that our desire is often weak and we don't beg Him to increase it. It is also very sad to see Catholics worrying or being anxious. I deleted my google account and am withdrawing from the internet because I have looked too many years at hand wringing Catholics and it is disturbing.
