Rest in Peace, Bishop René Gracida (June 9, 1923 – May 1, 2026)!

From Diocese of Corpus Christi
At the age of 102, Bishop René Henry Gracida passed away on the morning of May 1, 2026. Bishop Mario Avilés wrote, “It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of Bishop Emeritus René Henry Gracida. He served as the fifth Bishop of the Diocese of Corpus Christi from 1983 until 1997. We are deeply grateful for his faithful service as our shepherd for 14 years.” Previously, he was appointed Bishop of the Diocese of Pensacola-Tallahassee in Florida (1975–1983) and as an auxiliary bishop of the Archdiocese of Miami in Florida (1971–1975).
Born in New Orleans, Louisiana, on June 9, 1923, Gracida was the second child of Enrique J. Gracida Carrizosa, a Mexican architect and engineer, and Mathilde Derbes, a fifth-generation French American Cajun. His great uncle was a vicar general of a diocese in Mexico. As a teenager, Gracida was fascinated by the Jesuit martyrs portrayed in James Fenimore Cooper’s novel The Last of the Mohicans.

Leo XIV Appoints Smuggled Illegal Immigrant as U.S. Bishop

Today, Pope Leo XIV has appointed three new U.S. bishops who have expressed criticism of President Donald Trump.
Evelio Menjivar-Ayala, 55, currently auxiliary bishop for the Archdiocese of Washington, is the new bishop of Wheeling-Charleston covering West Virginia. He is a formerly undocumented immigrant who was smuggled into the United States in a car trunk.
Furthermore, Leo XIV elevated the prelates Gary Studniewski, 68, and Robert Boxie, 45, as new auxiliary bishops for Washington Archdiocese.
Cardinal McElroy of Washington is one of the strongest pro-homosexual infiltrators. He publicly defended Fiducia Supplicans and said U.S. opposition focused on homosexual blessings reflected “enduring animus” toward homosexuals.
His Archdiocese of Washington spans Washington, D.C., and surrounding Maryland communities, placing its bishops in regular contact with policymakers, diplomats and national media.
With Menjivar, Boxie and Studniewski, Leo XIV has again reinforced a leadership group …More

Chair of the Durham Catholic District School Board writes open letter: we respond

The Archdiocesan of Toronto newspaper The Catholic Register on April 30, 2026, posted an open letter written by Morgan Ste. Marie, chair of the Durham Catholic District School Board. A number of schools boards in Ontario have come under government supervision. Some form of governance reform is soon coming. The letter tries to defend the importance of Catholic trustees and what it would mean if the government decoded to get rid of them.
Here's Ste. Marie's message followed by our response:
After a few months of speculation about school board governance, a decision on the future of school boards is expected soon. Yet one critical question remains: What would happen if we diminished the role of elected school board trustees?
Loss of local involvement
Elected school trustees serve as vital links between the community and the education system. We communicate, respond and are accountable to parents, students, and local communities, ensuring that the values and needs of those we represent …

Communion for dogs: the Bishop of Chur sees no sacrilege

DESECRATION
No excommunication for three parishioners who shared the Holy Host with their dog: according to Bishop Bonneman, they did not intend to commit sacrilege. However, the problem remains because the 'incident' stems from liturgical abuses and a misinterpretation of the Eucharist.
The 'incident' is easily summarised (
see here). On 4 October 2025, the Feast of St Francis of Assisi, the parish of the Good Shepherd in Zurich decided to organise an outdoor celebration to bless animals. Due to bad weather, the blessing was moved indoors and incorporated into the Eucharistic celebration. At the moment of Communion, some of those present noticed that three people were sharing the consecrated host with their dogs.
The Bishop of the Diocese of Chur, Monsignor Joseph Bonnemain, to whom the incident was reported, correctly decided to launch an investigation to ascertain the facts. On 17 April, the diocese announced that the three individuals in question had not incurred the excommunication '…

Time To Take Stock – Allah's Willing Executioners

Exactly fifty years ago, France introduced the principle of family reunification for immigrants who had come to work in France. Over the years, the measure has taken on symbolic significance as a sign of an out-of-control migration policy, making it highly unpopular today. But which politician will dare, in the coming years, to tackle what is also considered a taboo in France, the principle of the “land of welcome”?
On April 29, 1976,
family reunification, as it remains in force in France today, was introduced under a centre-right government, with Jacques Chirac as Prime Minister and Valéry Giscard d’Estaing as President of the Republic.
The decree established the general framework for family reunification, allowing a foreign national legally resident in France to bring over their spouse and minor children. Other legal provisions already existed prior to this decree. Since the 1920s, a period when significant labour migration was flowing into France—which had suffered from a shortage …

US Justice Department: "Prosecute Any Nun Who Still Wears the Veil"

Justice Department prosecutors in the Biden administration joked about prosecuting Catholic nuns who attended a pro-Trump rally, according to text messages released by Senator Chuck Grassley and reported by DailyWire.com on April 29.
Prosecutor Molly Gaston wrote after viewing a photo of nuns wearing habits at the rally: “I would like to take a special assignment of finding and prosecuting them.”
Prosecutor Joseph Cooney replied, “I’m with you,” adding that he would like to prosecute “any nun who still wears the head habit.”
Grassley obtained the messages during an investigation into Justice Department conduct and condemned the remarks as evidence of bias against religious Americans.

“But if I hadn’t brought you in by now you might have died.”
Now she stroked his pretty skin and then she kissed and held him tight .

“And you've bit me even, why?
“You know your bite is poisonous and now I’m going to die.”

The heretical Anglican figure of the “Archbishop of Canterbury.” is equivalent to a “synodal pope.” Primus inter pares — the first among equals

“Your Grace”
Prevost maliciously used the name of the Holy Spirit and the name of Christ to endorse the heretical Anglican woman who poses as a bishop. This sin of malice against the Holy Spirit demonstrates that he is a blasphemer and a false prophet.
The impostor Robert Prevost, mocking the male priesthood instituted by Christ, began his speech by addressing the heretic Sarah Mullally—disguised as a bishop—: “Your Grace...”
Let us recall that the heretical figure of the Anglican sect—the Archbishop of Canterbury—is equivalent to a “synodal pope”: *first among equals*. Primus inter pares.
«Primus inter pares
The Archbishop of Canterbury holds a unique position as the first among equals within the Anglican Communion. Leftist SNP Housing Minister Claims ‘Too Few’ Migrants Are Coming to Scotland – Allah's Willing Executioners

Medforth AI
Scotland’s far-left Housing Minister has claimed that the country needs more immigration in a debate ahead of the upcoming elections for the locally devolved parliament.
Immigration has shot to the forefront of the May 7th race for control of the Scottish Parliament at Holyrood, as the leftist Scottish National Party (SNP) Housing Minister Mairi McAllan declared that Scotland is receiving “too few” migrants and that more should be imported to bolster the economy.
Appearing on a
debate held on BBC Scotland, she added that Scotland is a “welcoming nation” and that immigration is “good for our economy, necessary for our economy, for our hospitality sector, health and social care, and our businesses.”
“Difficulties have been inflamed, they have been exploited, they have been exploited by the parties sitting next to me here, which I think has created an atmosphere of fear,” she added.
Reform UK Glasgow City Councillor Thomas Kerr said that the system is at a “breaking point …

17 babies were left to die after born-alive abortions in Alberta last year - LifeSite

Wed Apr 29, 2026 - 2:56 pm EDT
(
LifeSiteNews) — There is a particular kind of sentence that does not require embellishment. It does not need adjectives. It does not benefit from rhetorical inflation.
It simply needs to be stated plainly – and then be allowed to do its work:
Seventeen babies were born alive in Alberta following labor-induced late-term abortions in 2025 and left to die.
That’s it. That’s the sentence.
Seventeen. Seventeen babies. Seventeen times. In Alberta. In 2025.
Born alive and then?
No life-sustaining intervention. No automatic presumption in favor of care. No clear, system-wide requirement that birth triggers a clinical reset. Instead, within the system administered by Alberta Health Services, the response is shaped in advance: a non-interventional pathway, established before the child is even born, and carried through after the child is. This is not a failure of the system; it is how the system is designed to function.
If that sounds implausible, it is only …

Carmelite community of Campiégne martyrs to close: The historic Carmelite community of Compiègne, which is now based in Jonquières, France, is closing. The six remaining nuns have announced that they will be leaving due to the ageing nature of the community and a lack of new vocations. Founded in 1641, the community is best known for the sixteen Carmelite martyrs of Compiègne who were executed during the French Revolution in 1794 and canonised by Pope Francis in 2024. The monastery in Jonquières has been home to the community since 1992. The nuns are leaving over the coming months, not all at once.

Carmelite community of Campiègne martyrs to close

The six remaining cloistered Carmelite nuns in Jonquières, France, are closing their historic community, ending a 400-year legacy of prayer ... and martyrdom.
It's a sad consequence of the lack of religious vocations. Bishop Jacques Benoit-Gonnin of Beauvais, Noyon, and Senlis (France) announced on April 21 the closure of the Compiègne
Carmelite community, located some six miles from the original site, in Jonquières, since 1992.
"As age advances, numbers decrease, vocations are slow in coming, and external reinforcements are impossible to find, our Carmelite Sisters of Compiègne have decided to close their community," the bishop explained. Six nuns currently remain at the monastery. They will leave gradually over the coming months.
Famous martyrs
The Carmel of the Annunciation, founded in Compiègne in 1641 and following the Rule of St. Teresa of Avila, was the 53rd foundation in France at the time. It had a unique impact, giving the Church 16 holy martyrs.
