That which shows still more the rigour of Purgatory is that the shortest period of time there appears to be of very long duration. Every one knows that days of enjoyment pass quickly and appear short, whilst the time passed in suffering we find very long. Oh, how slowly pass the hours of the night for the poor sick, who spend them in sleeplessness and pain. We may say that the more intense the pain the longer appears the shortest duration of time. This rule furnishes us with a new means of estimating the sufferings of Purgatory. On 5 December 2025, prosecutors in Poland filed a formal indictment against Rev. Jacek K., a 64-year-old priest from the Diocese of Sosnowiec. He stands accused of nine sexual offences against seven female minors, as well as the possession of child pornography. During a search of his residence in October 2024, investigators also reported discovering a large collection of perverted sex items.The alleged offences span from 2008 to 2024, during which time he served as a parish priest and religion teacher. The case came to light after his name appeared on an internal list compiled by another clergyman from the same diocese who passed away in 2023 following an unrelated violent incident. Fr. Jacek K. is currently in pre-trial detention. He denies the allegations.
