Berlin zahlt 900 Millionen Euro für Flüchtlingsunterkünfte Berlin steht kurz davor, knapp eine Milliarde Euro zur Unterbringung von Flüchtlingen auszugeben. Demnach beliefen sich die Kosten für die Unterkünfte im Jahr 2024 auf 883 Millionen Euro – 2020 waren es noch 312 Millionen Euro. Das entspricht einem Anstieg um gut 150%. Besonders brisant sind die Kosten für das Flüchtlingsheim in Tegel: Auf dem Gelände des ehemaligen Flughafens waren Tausende Menschen untergebracht, derzeit sind es noch etwa 1500. Allein im Jahr 2023 – als der Kostenanstieg in Berlin Fahrt aufnahm – verschlang die Unterkunft 298 Millionen Euro, im vergangenen Jahr waren es dann immerhin noch 260 Millionen Euro. The Polish Bishops’ Conference has invited Pope Leo XIV to visit Poland. Archbishop Tadeusz Wojda of Gdańsk delivered the invitation during a private audience, noting that 2027 would be a fitting occasion as the Church marks the 150th anniversary of the Marian apparitions in Gietrzwałd. The Pope said his schedule for 2026–27 is already full but that he would consider the visit. According to Monsignor Wojda, Leo XIV expressed his affection for Poland and recalled visiting the country many times before.
