After examining the Marian feasts celebrated throughout the world on a given day, Fr. Nate offers a brief reflection to help make our love for Our Lady concrete in daily living. The title "No Greater Delight" is inspired by a homily of Saint Bernard of Clairvaux, wherein he expresses his joy in preaching about the Virgin Mother, even though he acknowledges the challenge of adequately praising her. Luisella Scrosati is one of the finest Catholic journalists in Italy at this time. She often writes articles of considerable interest on liturgical topics. With the permission ofLa Nuova Bussola Quotidiana, we offer NLM readers the following translation of her article series on the topic of spiritual, architectural, and liturgical orientation, beginning today with “L’orientamento della preghiera”, originally published in Italian on November 9 of this year. No religious man, whether pagan, Jewish, or Christian, neglected the posture of the body in prayer, and especially in the presentation of offerings to the deity. In particular, three aspects appear especially well documented in writings and visual representations: standing posture, raised and open hands, and eyes turned toward the sky—characteristics that were common to both the faithful who presented offerings and prayers and the priest who sacrificed them to the deity. These bodily attitudes express a clear aspect: prayer and the …

After Francis’s death, he wrote about that meeting on Diocoliet.org on 5 May. Back then, he was standing in Saint Peter’s Basilica with Chicago Archbishop Blase Cupich. Cupich had been installed as Archbishop of Chicago in November 2014. In January 2015, he appointed Rev. Hicks as his Vicar General and in 2018 his auxiliary bishop. “Now Is Your Chance” In June 2015, Archbishop Cupich asked his Vicar General in the Basilica, “Have you ever met the Pope?” When Hicks replied, “No,” Cupich grasped his arm and said with a smile, “Well, now is your chance.” He led Hicks briskly toward Pope Francis and introduced him in Italian, saying, “Holy Father, this is Ron Hicks, my Vicar General, and he speaks Spanish.” Francis turned to Hicks and began speaking in Spanish. Hicks recalls: “From that moment forward, whenever we encountered one another, we spoke …More

Especially when the same pretext is used selectively? Israel is committing genocide in Palestine and doesn’t have to worry about its deposits in Europe. Regardless of your stance on Russia’s actions, such politicized treatment of bank customers, judged by different standards depending on current political needs, poses a significant risk of eroding confidence in the institutions that “protect” the capital entrusted to them in this way. The article on TrendCompass from Monday was dedicated to this looting: Europe’s lawless union. On Friday, 12 December, the EU crossed the legal Rubicon, in order to indefinitely freeze the $246 billion in Russian assets held in Europe. Under the previous system, the assets were frozen temporarily, and the freeze required a renewal every six months, conditional on a unanimous vote by all …

The Door of Humility: Entering the Place Where Christ Was Born — Church of the Nativity Bethlehem—whose name in Hebrew means “House of Bread”—holds a place of profound significance in the Christian world. It was here that Mary and Joseph found refuge in a stable, and where Mary gave birth to Jesus, ‘the Bread of Life’. Over this sacred grotto, the Church of the Nativity was built, transforming a humble place of divine intervention into one of Christianity’s most treasured pilgrimage sites. The Church of the Nativity is among the oldest continuously functioning churches in existence. It was originally commissioned in the 4th century by Emperor Constantine the Great and his mother, Saint Helena, who identified the grotto as the true site of Christ’s birth. Dedicated in 339 AD, the first basilica drew pilgrims from across the Roman Empire. Although the original structure was destroyed, Byzantine Emperor Justinian rebuilt a grander version in the 6th century, parts of which remain today …More

Bishop Michael Martin of Charlotte, North Carolina, has banned the public use of kneelers for receiving Communion with effect from 16 January 2026. In a letter published on CharlotteDiocese.org on 17 December, he writes that using them is 'a visible contradiction to the normative posture of Holy Communion established by our episcopal conference'. The text begins with pious or banal quotations. He then admits that it is the right of the faithful to kneel when receiving Holy Communion. But: "The normative posture for all the faithful in the United States is standing." "Faithful individuals who feel compelled to kneel to receive the Eucharist, as is their right, should prayerfully consider the communal blessing that is realised when we share a common posture." Monsignor Martin refers to the norms of the US bishops' conference which "logically" do not envisage the use of kneelers or receiving communion. The three main points of the letter are: 1. Clergy, catechists, ministers of Holy Communion …More
In their latest message, Real Women of Canada offer a sober analysis about abortion in Canada. It's titled, "Changes in the Pro-Life Landscape." We post it here with permission. Those who are strongly opposed to abortion on moral grounds in Canada may not be aware that the ground is slowly shifting on this issue. It is easy to miss these subtle changes taking place since we are barraged daily by the mainstream media which presents abortion as an absolute entitlement and permits no debate on the issue. According to the woke left-wing aristocracy of the Liberal government, and feminists, there is only one position recognized in Canada – that abortion be readily available for any reason. The following is a clear-eyed analysis of the current pro-life landscape. The Media Cone of Silence on Abortion is Broken Due to the enormous funding given only to feminist groups by the federal and provincial governments over the past fifty years, feminism has prospered with the result that its perspective …
