Pompei: Masked Virgins Danced for Christ (Video)

The Pontifical Shrine of Pompei, Italy, published a video of the Dance of the Virgins with Lightened Lamps.

It was performed by the the Dominican Sisters Daughters of the Holy Rosary of Pompeii at the end of an international Rosary celebrated on October 26 at the shrine for the 41st anniversary of the beatification of Bartolo Longo (+1926) who restored the shrine.

The dance was reminiscent of the virgins awaiting the bridegroom (Mt 25,1-13). MessaInLatino.it (November 9) called the dance “grotesque” and added, “But … the masks, they were there.”
