Henry Sire, the author of the brilliant book “The Dictator Pope”, has been suspended as a member of the Order of Malta for [allegedly] breaching their constitution by writing the book.
Sire has lived in Rome for four years (2013-2017) in the palace of the knights in Rome. He is a friend of Matthew Festing, who was removed as Grand Master of the Knights by Pope Francis in January 2017.
Now it is evident why Sire's book needed to be published with a pen name.

Henry Sire is suspended by the Order of Malta, because of the chapter in @DictatorPope about the Order of Malta and Holy See debacle. Yet the guy who started the crisis by distributing condoms, Albrecht von Boeselager, is not suspended but promoted.

The Order of Malta must have known for months who write the Dictator Pope. It was an open secret.
Pope Francis said when speaking to priests in Rome in 2016 about cohabitating couples he knew in Argentina who were faithful but not married, “I’ve seen a lot of fidelity in these cohabitations, and I am sure that this is a real marriage, they have the grace of a real marriage because of their fidelity.”

I wonder whether they underwent a process of discernment with Mr Sire, accompanying him to see whether he wasn't in fact in breach of the Constitutions, though I suspect not. Order of Malta probably full of rigid doctors of the law. Someone should tell the Pope.
