Francis: No Surgery – It’s Worse

Francis will not have surgery for his sciatica, Italian media report.

The problem is caused by the fact that Francis is too fat. Therefore, he needs to undergo a strict diet to lose 7-8 kilos. This will make surgery unnecessary. The inflammation of the sciatic nerve causes him violent pain that even prevents him from walking.

Inaugurating the judicial year of the Roman Rota, Francis apologised saying, "I should speak standing up, but you know that sciatica is a troublesome guest. I apologise and I will speak while seated".
