The blasphemous depiction of a naked, birthing "Mother of God" in Linz Cathedral, Austria, was destroyed on Monday morning.
The Diocese of Linz told Orf.at that the head of the sculpture was sawed off.
Episcopal vicar Johann Hintermaier played victim: "We were aware that with this installation we were also triggering discussions. If we have hurt people's religious feelings, we are sorry, but I strongly condemn this violent act of destruction and the refusal to engage in dialogue as well as the attack on the freedom of art”.
Austrian publicist Wolfram Schrems wrote to episcopal vicar Hintermaier and Bishop Manfred Scheuer. Schrems doesn’t believe the apology ("we are sorry"): "The diocesan mafia has been doing this systematically for a long time. This is pure hypocrisy on your part."
Schrems speculates that the beheading could also be "part of an artistic intervention by the client, i.e. the diocese, or by the ‘artist’, in other words, a reason to get artificially upset about ‘refusers …More

That’s so revolting—public flogging of the artist would be appropriate

Okay, so I'm glad I'm not the only one who thought this was odd after my initial "That's good" reaction.
The sculpture isn't paper mache. It's probably stone (possibly metal). And even if the statue were metallic and hollow, sawing the head off wouldn't be a stealthy operation.
Has anyone explained how our favorite vandal pulled this off?More

Will the SSPX be organizing a pilgrimage of reparation for the “mindless attacks on the bishop” and this “terrible” act of vandalism?

This is great that someone knocked the head off of this piece of trash, but they shold have gone further and just smashed it to pieces.
But everyone, look at the arms, hands, and legs of this filth. They are man hands, arms and legs, not the slim, delicate hands of a woman. I hope someone else destroys the whole thing.

Next, in Europe and elsewhere, if homo Francis and his homosexual bishops and Cardinals try to destry the TLM, they should stand up and tell them to "Go to Hell"
Don't listen to the likes of CArdinal Burke, who yesterday advised CAtholics to respect and obey the Pope even if they know he is wrong, or even evil....because he is Pope.
Burke has goood reason to side with homo Pope Francis. Francis recieve dhim in audience, and Burke still has his Rome apartment.

They probably did the act themselves as part of a freak ritual

If Hintermaier really wanted to trigger discussions the statue should have been of Amna bint Wahb, Mohammad's mother, giving birth.

Wouldn't dare. It wouldn't have been only the statue that got beheaded!

"Refusal to engage in dialogue" - We all know - don't ever try to reason with the devil.

Who gets the insurance check?
SonoftheChurch
Absolutely….always — ALWAYS — follow the money.
Credo .
They won't get too far with a claim as they knew about the threats and did nothing to protect it!
Liam Ronan
@credo That would only make the insurance premium higher. And for the short time it was in their possession, the payoff may well offset the premium(s) to date.

Offending the Holy Mother of God, the Spouse of the Holy Ghost with blasphemous art is not dialog, it is not triggering discussions it is not taking part in productive dialog (to what end I wonder? Perhaps to question Her perpetual virginity? Is that the job of an episcopal vicar?) it is an offense against God and His Mother. The destruction of such ‘art’ is a good and holy act.
SonoftheChurch
True. So very true and well stated. It is an act of sanctity like unto that which was committed by the zeal of the Priest, Phinehas, grandson of Aaron, the High Priest of Israel.

These apostate Satanists act like those who practice syncretic "Santeria" that hides their demons, these Marxist Masons make a sculpture of Pachamama whom they blasphemously call a virgin to offend the Mother Jesus in the house of God as in the French Revolution when they installed the prostitute goddess reason in the Temple in rebellion against God and the Church.

The statue is destroyed. Thanks be to God. I believe that it was Linz Diocese itself - they had no other option.
DrMaria
It has supposedly been beheaded - but has it been hauled off? It needs to be totally removed!
Liam Ronan
@DrMaria "sawed off" they said. It strikes me that sawing the head off a statue might require a bit of time at the scene of the 'crime'. Nobody saw this? Good riddance but it all smells fishy from start to finish.
DrMaria
Someone just get this piece of blasphemy out of there! Where is Alexander Tschugguell? We need you, Alexander, to rally true Catholics in Austria to remove this horror story - throw it in some body of water like you did the Pachademon idol! You live in Austria, unless you have moved. Please defend Our Lady's Honor! Thank you! Ave Maria!
