Episcopal vicar Johann Hintermaier played victim: "We were aware that with this installation we were also triggering discussions. If we have hurt people's religious feelings, we are sorry, but I strongly condemn this violent act of destruction and the refusal to engage in dialogue as well as the attack on the freedom of art”.
Austrian publicist Wolfram Schrems wrote to episcopal vicar Hintermaier and Bishop Manfred Scheuer. Schrems doesn’t believe the apology ("we are sorry"): "The diocesan mafia has been doing this systematically for a long time. This is pure hypocrisy on your part."

Okay, so I'm glad I'm not the only one who thought this was odd after my initial "That's good" reaction.
The sculpture isn't paper mache. It's probably stone (possibly metal). And even if the statue were metallic and hollow, sawing the head off wouldn't be a stealthy operation.
Has anyone explained how our favorite vandal pulled this off?More

This is great that someone knocked the head off of this piece of trash, but they shold have gone further and just smashed it to pieces.

Don't listen to the likes of CArdinal Burke, who yesterday advised CAtholics to respect and obey the Pope even if they know he is wrong, or even evil....because he is Pope.
Burke has goood reason to side with homo Pope Francis. Francis recieve dhim in audience, and Burke still has his Rome apartment.

Offending the Holy Mother of God, the Spouse of the Holy Ghost with blasphemous art is not dialog, it is not triggering discussions it is not taking part in productive dialog (to what end I wonder?
