Gertrude the Great (or Saint Gertrude of Helfta; Italian: Santa Gertrude, German: Gertrud die Große von Helfta, Latin: Sancta Gertrudis; January 6, 1256 – November 17, 1302) was a German Benedictine nun and mystic. She is recognized as a saint by the Catholic Church and by The Episcopal Church. In addition to being commemorated in the Episcopal Calendar of Saints on November 19, Gertrude is inscribed in the General Roman Calendar for optional celebration throughout the Roman Rite, as a memorial on November 16.
Gertrude produced numerous writings, though only some survive today. The longest survival is the Legatus Memorialis Abundantiae Divinae Pietatis (known in English today as The Herald of Divine Love or The Herald of God's Loving-Kindness, and sometimes previously known as Life and Revelations), partly written by other nuns. Am Samstag, 9. Oktober 2021, fand am Nachmittag eine große Rosenkranzprozession durch Einsiedeln statt mit Fahnen, Blasmusik, Gesang und Gebet. An der Prozession nahmen 800 Personen teil, darunter auch viele junge Menschen. Anlass dazu war der 450. Jahrestag des Sieges der Christen bei der Schlacht von Lepanto gegen die osmanische Flotte am 7. ► Hello and welcome back everyone. Today we are presenting work of a talented digital artist who is recreating faces of Roman emperors, based on their dusty statues and historical references. Haroun Binous is a student in University of Lausanne in Switzerland who has always been fascinated by Roman history and in particular with Roman emperors. He decided to combine facial recognition computer algorithms (Artificial Intelligence) and Photoshop, to revive and reconstruct realistic looking faces of the emperors, from Augustus to Valentinian III. Results are so amazing and true to life, they have to be seen. As usual in my videos of this kind, a touch of animation is added to give an extra flair. Enjoy!
