On October 23, gunmen attacked a Greek Orthodox church in Hammoud, near Karak, Jordan, opening fire on Christians attending a funeral. Initial reports indicate seven people were killed and 34 injured, some seriously. Jordanian authorities described the shooting as a terrorist attack. According to Roya News, preliminary assessments suggest the attackers were motivated by extremist Islamist (Takfiri) ideology. The gunmen fled the scene.

According to The Post media, off camera one of the car jackers was waiting at the gate. The father pulls his concealed firearm and smokes all 3 would be car jackers whilst shielding his daughter with his body. According to local Pinetown media, a private security firm was the first to respond (well after the three criminals were dead) to the scene and eventually local police showed up to take a report.
