HER DIARY
“Today my husband was acting strangely. We were supposed to go out for dinner. I’d been shopping with some friends and got back a little late. I thought he would notice, but he didn’t say a word.
Conversation was going nowhere, so I suggested we find a quiet restaurant. He agreed, but he was still unusually withdrawn.
I asked him what was wrong, but all he would say was, ‘Nothing.’ I tried to find out whether I had done something, but he insisted I hadn’t and told me not to worry about it.
On the way home, I told him I loved him. He only smiled and kept his eyes fixed on the road. Why didn’t he tell me he loved me too?
Back home, we watched television, but we never really talked. I could tell something was on his mind, that something was bothering him.
I went to bed. About fifteen minutes later, he came in too, but he was still distant. He wasn’t affectionate and didn’t even put his arms around me.
After he fell asleep, I started to cry. I just can’t understand what I’ve done …More

VaticanNews.va has profiled Anna Medeossi, the first woman to serve as rector of a Catholic shrine. The Italian architect and consecrated virgin has served for nearly a year as rector of the Shrine of Notre-Dame de Santa Cruz in Oran, Algeria. She initially became involved with the shrine as an architect, working on its renovation. The shrine is visited primarily by Muslims.

First woman rector of a shrine: Witnessing to the Gospel through listening

[vaticannews] At the Rimini Meeting, we spoke with Anna Medeossi, who has been entrusted with the care of Notre-Dame de Santa Cruz in Oran, Algeria, about her story of encounter, faith, and listening.
By Eugenio Murrali and Andrea Tornielli - Rimini
Anna Medeossi has a lively and determined gaze, gentleness in her voice and gestures, and a wisdom that is both humble and profound.
An architect originally from the Italian city of Gorizia, she might never have imagined what life would call her to do nearly a year ago: become the first woman in the world to serve as rector of a shrine.
That distinction takes on even greater significance because of where the shrine is located: Notre-Dame de Santa Cruz in Oran, Algeria, an overwhelmingly Muslim country.
Images of the shrine she oversees were seen around the world on the occasion of the beatification of the Martyrs of Algeria.
From architecture to caring for the shrine
Her arrival at Santa Cruz—where she now also lives as a consecrated virgin …More

20.08.2026
MOTHER TERESA COMMUNITY PRIEST EXPELLED FROM ROME BY THE POLICE : MY STATEMENT ON VATICAN COUNCIL II AN ISSUE.
Father Stephen Yaw Manu, the Superior of the Missionaries of Charity Contemplative Brothers of Mother Teresa, Largo Prenestina, Rome has been expelled because on August 15, this year, during the Prayers of the Faithful, at the Italian Mass, I remarked, that the Catholic Church teaches that outside the Church there is no salvation. This is the teaching of Vatican Council II etc.
Fr. Stephen did not know about this.
He is the Superior at Casa Serena, a Home for the Aged, where there are some 50 residents.
Outside the Catholic Church there is no salvation, I said, is the teaching of Vatican Council II. I know that this is also the teaching of the Church at the Mass Readings, from the Bible (John 3:5, Mark 16:16 etc). The Mass was a Catholic religious event.
Fr. Stephen m.c a hardworking priest from Ghana, has been asked to leave Rome by the secular authorities and this …More

The forest was on fire.
Every animal was running toward the river.
But the tortoise was heading the other way.
The fox shouted, “You’re going to die! The river is behind you!”
The tortoise kept moving.
Then she said, “During wildfires, crocodiles often wait near the water. They know frightened animals will rush straight toward the river.”
The fox stopped.
A moment later, she heard screams coming from that direction.
“Then where are you going?” she asked.
The tortoise pointed toward a stretch of blackened ground ahead.
“The fire already burned through there yesterday,” she said. “Flames can’t burn what has already turned to ash.”
The fox followed her.
They both survived.
Lesson:
Don’t assume the crowd always knows the safest way.
Fear follows everyone else.
Wisdom looks ahead.

"Citizens Want Political Turnaround": AfD Now Polls At 43% Across Eastern Germany

Building on Nomura analyst Andrzej Szczepaniak's note from earlier this week, which forecasts that right-wing parties are positioned to make electoral gains across Germany, France, Spain, Switzerland, and the UK over the next 18 months, new polling data from Germany further suggest that Alternative for Germany (AfD) is performing exceptionally well as citizens demand political change after years of failed progressive experiments that encouraged a Third World migrant invasion and nation-killing deindustrialization trends. AfD co-leader Alice Weidel cited new polling data on X from a Forsa survey showing that, if a federal election were held now, eastern German voters would choose: AfD: 43% The Left: 16% CDU/CSU: 13% Greens: 9% SPD: 9% FDP: 3% Other parties: 7% Weidel said, "According to a recent Forsa survey, the AfD is at 43% across the entire East, while the CDU is down to just 13%. The citizens want the political turnaround!" The key takeaway from the new survey is that the AfD …

Leo XIV’s Argentina Visit to Carry Forward Francis’s Legacy

Argentine newspaper La Nación reports that Pope Leo XIV’s planned visit to Argentina is shaping up as a strong continuation of Pope Francis’s pastoral priorities and style, with a particular emphasis on the poor, workers, prisoners and marginalized communities.
The likely agenda includes a meeting with grassroots and social movements, a visit to Villa Devoto prison, and a large gathering with young people at San Lorenzo’s football stadium in Buenos Aires.
All three have strong symbolic connections to Francis.
As Archbishop Jorge Bergoglio, Francis maintained close relationships with poor neighborhoods, prisoners and grassroots movements. San Lorenzo was also famously his football club. The stadium is located near the Padre Ricciardelli neighborhood, where Bergoglio frequently carried out pastoral work.
According to the provisional schedule, Leo XIV would arrive in Buenos Aires from Uruguay on Sunday, November 8, spend several days in Argentina, potentially travel to Córdoba on November …More

10 or more underground bishops secretly consecrated since Vatican-China deal

Chinese Underground Church Consecrated 10 Bishops without Papal Mandate

After the 2018 Sino-Vatican agreement “terrible things happen to Catholics” in the Fujian province, an anonymous Chinese bishop who is unaffiliated with the Chinese state church ‘Patriotic Association’, told Anthony Clark for CatholicWorldReport.com on August 23.
The bishop speaks of a “state of emergency”.
As government influence over the bishops increases, “the integrity of the Catholic faith will suffer.” To “assure the survival of China’s Church,” new bishops have been “secretly consecrated.”
The bishop says the faithful question Rome’s genuine concern for their “spiritual well-being” when the Holy See approves government-selected bishops whom they regard as too reliable to the state.
The number is unknown, but he suggested that “at least ten new bishops” were consecrated for the underground community in the Fujian province.

As We Grow Older, It’s Not Being Alone That Scares Us… It’s Not Being Found.
There’s something we don’t talk about enough as we get older.
And it isn’t loneliness.
Because loneliness, when it is chosen, can be peaceful.
You learn to enjoy your morning chai by yourself.
To sip your coffee in silence.
To sleep diagonally across the bed.
To play your favourite music as loudly as you want.
To enjoy a quiet house without feeling the need to fill every corner with noise.
You discover that you don’t need a crowd around you to feel complete.
But there is another kind of fear.
The fear of slipping in the bathroom and not being able to get back up.
The fear of your body suddenly saying, “Enough,” while your voice goes unheard.
The fear of falling, lying on the floor, needing help — and realizing there is no one nearby to ask, “Are you okay?”
Because being alone and being abandoned are not the same thing.
We can be independent and still need someone.
We can love our solitude and still want a person …More

The Broken Statue

by Plinio Corrêa de Oliveira
– Folha de S. Paulo, May 29, 1978 –
This is the fact in its brutality: Brazil has venerated Our Lady as its special patroness for more than two centuries, and this veneration is directed to her under the invocation of the Immaculate Conception of Aparecida.
Our Lady Aparecida!
This exclamation often comes to mind for Brazilians, especially on important occasions. It may be the cry of an afflicted soul addressing God through the intercession of the Mediatrix, who refuses nothing to men and to whom God, in turn, refuses nothing. It may also be the exclamation of a soul unable to contain its joy, pouring out its gratitude at the feet of the Mother, from whom all benefits come to us.
The story of the small, dark terracotta image, with its large blue mantle on which precious stones shine and the Queen of Brazil’s crown on her forehead, would fill books. If conceived as I would imagine them, these books should contain not only the distinguished historical facts …More

War Against the Ancient Mass Is Destructive for the Church - Cardinal Sarah

When the generation of the ’68ers passes away, the unfounded, one-sided attitudes against Latin and Gregorian chant will pass away as well, Cardinal Robert Sarah told IlGiornale.it on August 27.
Benedict XVI’s liberalization of the Traditional Latin Mass had a positive and even corrective influence on abuses in the celebration of the Novus Ordo, Cardinal Sarah said.
“Many priests testify that discovering the Extraordinary Form helped them to celebrate better.”
Furthermore, the faithful could choose which form corresponded more closely to the fostering of the faith.
“But all of this was brought to an abrupt end by Traditionis Custodes while the Pope Emeritus was still alive.”
Francis’ restrictions on the Latin Mass were “neither a wise nor a respectful choice.”
Cardinal Sarah added that access to “ritual forms that have existed for centuries can never be artificially restricted by decrees.”
Without referring explicitly to the Novus Ordo, Sarah noted that a rite that did not serve the …More

Two pastors in South Korea have been fined 1 million won (about €620) each after loudly preaching on a domestic flight from Jeju to Seoul. They shouted that passengers would “go to hell” if they did not believe in Jesus, while one moved around the cabin. They continued despite instructions from the cabin crew to stop. A Seoul court found that their conduct constituted a disturbance under South Korea’s Aviation Security Act.

The court said the 64-year-old pastor stood in the aisle despite repeated attempts by crew members to stop him and shouted at passengers, “You will go to hell if you don’t believe in Jesus.”

Two pastors fined W1m each for disrupting flight with loud preaching - The Korea Herald

This unrelated file photo shows the interior of an airplane. (Getty Images Bank) Two pastors were fined 1 million won ($723) each for disrupting a domestic flight by loudly preaching to passengers and refusing repeated requests from cabin crew to stop, local media reported Monday. The pastors, 64 and 68, were convicted of violating the Aviation Security Act over an incident aboard a flight from Jeju to Gimpo that departed at around 3:40 p.m. on March 12, according to the Seoul Southern District Court's Aug. 18 ruling. The court said the 64-year-old pastor stood in the aisle despite repeated attempts by crew members to stop him and shouted at passengers, “You will go to hell if you don’t believe in Jesus.” The other pastor joined in, shouting, "Hallelujah, you will go to hell" while walking up and down the aisle. When a crew member approached to issue a warning, the pastors reportedly shouted back, "Don't try to lecture me." The two ignored repeated complaints and objections from crew …

Purity

"Free from all uncleanness, perfect and altogether without spot."
— Denis (Pseudo-Dionysius), On the Divine Names, Chapter 12
"In these words three degrees of cleanness are described which are requisite for sanctity. And the first is the freedom from all uncleanness. Now freedom is the opposite of slavery. But the slave of uncleanness is he who is completely conquered by uncleanness and subject to it. The first grade of purity then is that one should be delivered from the slavery of impurity. Now the second degree is that the purity should be perfect, for the perfect is that to which nothing is lacking. It happens at times that one is not subject to uncleanness, but there is wanting to him something of purity, in so far as he is troubled by passions of uncleanness; and when these are taken away there is perfect purity. The third degree of purity is that one should be altogether without spot. For that is said to be spotted which is not stained by anything intrinsic, but by something …More

Google has quietly applied for an EPA permit to release 64 MILLION bacteria-infected mosquitoes into Florida and California over the next two years, and almost nobody is talking about it. This would be one of the largest open-air biological experiments in American history, run by a tech company, not a public health agency. The EPA can’t allow this to happen.
Terrifying.
