The Synodal Church of Magnificent Humanity

Another Mixed Bag Arrives
In my last
article I concluded that perhaps the title “Vicar of the Zeitgeist” was a bit timid. Then came the encyclical Magnifica Humanitas—if a 188-page book can even be called a “circular” (from the Greek enkyklios). Issued on the 135th anniversary of Leo XIII’s Rerum Novarum, Magnifica Humanitas (MH) has promptly elicited numerous critical appraisals, for after all we live in an epoch in which every papal document is anticipated with dread by anyone who still retains a memory of the unreconstructed Catholic religion and the teaching of the great pre-Vatican II Popes and their collective defiant nay to the spirit of the age which, so they warned us again and again, threatened the destruction of whatever was left of Christian civilization. In what has become the customary mode of postconciliar Vatican documents—that is, the Modernist mode—Magnifica Humanitas (MH) manages to further the de facto abandonment of the divine commission in the midst of …

Why does this telling video documentary only have some 15,000 views?

Yes, why does this revealing and very disturbing video documentary. posted in 2024, only have some 15,000 views? It's called, "What Happened to the Gaza Freedom Flotilla: The Truth: Lost At Sea."
In 2010, the Gaza Freedom Flotilla, a convoy of ships carrying humanitarian aid, attempted to break Israel’s blockade of Gaza. After refusing Israel’s request to desist, the flotilla continued on course through international waters, and Israel launched a night-raid, boarding the ships. On one of the six ships, a melee broke out between a group of activists and Israeli naval commandos. In the struggle, nine activists were shot dead and a tenth later died of their injuries. The murky details of what happened that night are laid out by the filmmaker, one of the surviving activists, unravelling how the story was spun by the media.
The current official Israeli position on Gaza is for total military control, de-arm the area, and remove Hamas and their military capabilities. To do this, Israel claims …

"Bishops’ Consecration" at Papa Stronsay

Fr Michael Mary of the Transalpine Redemptorist group at Papa Stronsay, Scotland, will receive an unauthorized “episcopal consecration” on July 25. The community announced this on June 18 on the monastery's blog.
The candidate is the founder and superior of the group. He is rumoured to foster a personality cult around himself.
In 2025, the group rejected the post-Vatican II hierarchy and adopted a sedevacantist delusion.
The episcopal consecration is scheduled to be performed by Bishop Pierre Roy, a Canadian sedevacantist bishop. He will be assisted by Bishops Rodrigo Ribeiro da Silva of Brazil and Fernando Altamira of Argentina.
All three "bishops" had previous ties to the Priestly Fraternity of St. Pius X (FSSPX). Two were ordained priests within the Fraternity, while the third was ordained by Bishop Williamson.
Ordinations in the Thục Lineage Considered Null in Practice
All three consecrating "bishops" derive their “episcopal orders” from the lineage of the eccentric Vietnamese …More

Many expected that Iran would go the way of Iraq, Libya, and Syria upon the start of the Third Gulf War, which is why the outcome of this conflict can be described as the upset of the century. Iran didn’t destroy Israel like it’s long threatened to do, nor did it sink any US ships like its media surrogates hyped supporters up to expect, but both – and especially Israel – were left badly battered.
This is how Andrzej Korybko – an American political analyst living in Moscow who specialises in the global transition to a multipolar system – begins his Tuesday article on korybko.substack.com: Here’s How Iran Pulled Off The Upset Of The Century.
The five points outlined in this analysis provide an excellent summary of Iran’s astute military-political strategy. Yesterday, at the conclusion of the G7 summit in Evian, France, Trump told reporters: Our [oil] reserves will be depleted in about four weeks. I have described Iran’s strategy as “excellent …

Catholic bishops of England and Wales react to reintroduction of assisted suicide bill

The Catholic bishops of England and Wales are “deeply disappointed” that an assisted suicide bill will again be back in Parliament, calling instead for improvements in palliative care.
On Wednesday, Labour member of Parliament (MP) Lauren Edwards
reintroduced the Terminally Ill Adults (End of Life) Bill, which passed a vote in the House of Commons in June 2025 but failed to pass the House of Lords when it ran out of time in April.
The bill today received its first reading in the House of Commons, officially marking the return of the bill in Westminster.
Responding to the news that it would be reintroduced, in a June 15 statement Archbishop John Sherrington of Liverpool, lead bishop for life issues at the Bishops’ Conference of England and Wales, expressed his deep disappointment and criticized the “flawed” legislation, saying: “The Catholic Church opposes this bill in principle and joins with many other people of faith and none in arguing that we should not cross this watershed.” …

Irish Catholics Recall Historic Visit of St Thérèse Relics | Shalom World News
A large number of faithful gathered at Whitefriar Street Church in Dublin on Sunday to mark 25 years since the relics of St Thérèse of Lisieux first visited Ireland. The event commemorated the saint's historic 2001 pilgrimage, which drew an estimated three million people during an 80-day journey across the country. Organized by the Carmelite family in collaboration with the Sweeney family, the anniversary celebration included Mass, veneration of relics, and an exhibition of photographs, memorabilia and artefacts linked to St Thérèse and her family. Organizers said the day was a celebration of a visit that continues to inspire devotion across Ireland.

"And pride is the foundation of all sins. V.g. Why is someone avaricious? It is from pride, because he does not wish to obey the precept of God saying, "You should not lust," or "not commit thefts" etc. Why is someone lustful? Is it not from pride, because he does not wish to obey the precept, "You shall not commit fornication?" Same for gluttony and the other sins. Authority: "Pride is the beginning of all sin," (Sir 10:15). Therefore Christ comes in great humility to reform us, like a servant in administering to us the works of redemption through human incarnation."

State Infiltration of the Church in Vietnam

The report Freedom of Worship: A False Reality in Vietnam was released in June 2026 by the International Christian Concern (ICC). It shows efforts by Vietnam's Communist Party to influence the Catholic Church through indirect means.
ICC is a Washington, D.C.-based "non-denominational" human rights advocacy nonprofit founded in 1995 to document the persecution of Christians worldwide.
The report argues that the Catholic Church occupies a unique position among Vietnam's religious communities. Unlike most other recognized religious organizations, it is not directly integrated into a state-controlled structure.
Three Control Strategies
According to the report, the Communist Party employs three principal strategies to control religious communities, drawing on a 2023 analysis by the U.S. Commission on International Religious Freedom (USCIRF).
The first, substitution, involves outlawing historically independent religious organizations and replacing them with state-controlled alternatives, …More

A report by Reform UK MP Rupert Lowe estimates up to 250,000 girls may have been targeted by organised grooming gangs across England over several decades. Offenders in several high-profile cases were predominantly Pakistani Muslim men. The abuse, documented in towns like Rotherham, Rochdale, and Telford, involved vulnerable girls aged 10 to 19 being groomed with gifts, alcohol, and false affection before being subjected to rape, trafficking, and violence. Baroness Casey's 2025 audit confirmed serious institutional failure, finding authorities repeatedly failed victims while some officials suppressed ethnicity data out of fear of being accused of racism. PM Keir Starmer has since announced a full national statutory inquiry, with the NCA reviewing over 1,200 previously closed cases.

The Eucharist, Altar Rails, and the Dignity of Catholics | The Devil Cannot Kneel ~ Fr. Perricone
Why do Catholics kneel before receiving Holy Communion? Why did altar rails once stand in nearly every Catholic church? And what does kneeling reveal about our dignity as children of God? In this powerful sermon, we are reminded that no man stands taller than when he kneels before Almighty God. Drawing from Sacred Scripture, the teachings of St. John Paul II, G.K. Chesterton, and the wisdom of the Desert Fathers, this sermon explores the profound meaning of kneeling in Eucharistic worship. From St. Peter falling to his knees before Christ, to Mary Magdalene weeping at the Savior's feet, to St. Thomas proclaiming "My Lord and My God," Catholics throughout history have understood that kneeling is the proper response before the King of Glory. The sermon concludes with a striking story from the Desert Fathers concerning Satan himself—a reminder of the eternal significance of humility, adoration …More

The devil has no knees
According to Abba Apollo, a desert father who lived about 1,700 years ago, the devil has no knees; he cannot kneel; he cannot adore; he cannot pray; he can only look down his nose in contempt. Being unwilling to bend the knee at the name of Jesus is the essence of evil (Cf. Is 45:23, Rom 14:11). But when we kneel at Jesus’ name, when we bow down in service of others, and when we bend the knee in adoration, we are following in the footsteps of the Magi, we are imitating Blessed Mother Teresa of Calcutta, St. Maximillian Kolbe, and all the saints and angels in heaven.
“Come, let us bow down and worship. Let us kneel before the Lord who made us.”
