Disconcerting!

Disconcerting!

– Folha de S. Paulo, April 30, 1969 –
Two news stories in the same newspaper caught my attention nearly simultaneously.
Initial reports suggest that Paraguay’s episcopate is in open conflict with the government. It appears that a clash between spiritual and secular authorities is looming, potentially the most significant in the country’s history.
A key cause of the crisis seems to be the unbearable mistreatment of political prisoners. The clergy have already expressed their protests. Archbishop Aníbal Porta issued an open letter to the head of state, condemning “the inhumane conditions prevailing in prisons.”
The news naturally sparks sympathy, aligning with the Church’s role of defending the underprivileged. This noble act has nothing to do with leftism, and its nobility soothes the heart, which is often hurt by the many disappointments of our troubled religious life.
However, a doubt crossed my mind as I remembered that the Paraguayan …More

Leo XIV on Anglican Dialogue: Overcoming Differences, No Matter How Intractable They Seem

Meeting for the first time with Anglican Dame Sarah Mullally, who holds the title Archbishop of Canterbury, Leo XIV encourages Catholics and Anglicans to proclaim Christ together.
They prayed together in the Urban VIII Chapel in the Apostolic Palace.
Leo XIV spoke about a fake archbishop who was an Anglican layman, and a pope who was far from saintly.
“When archbishop Michael Ramsey and Saint Pope Paul VI announced the first theological dialogue between Anglicans and Catholics [in 1966], they spoke of seeking the ‘restoration of complete communion in faith and sacramental life’. Certainly this ecumenical journey has been complex. While much progress has been made on some historically divisive issues, new problems have arisen in recent decades, rendering the pathway to full communion more difficult to discern.
I know that the Anglican Communion is also facing many of these same questions at this time.
Nevertheless, we must not allow these continuing challenges to prevent us from using …More

Lawyers ‘Tell Migrants To Claim They’re Gay’ To Stay in Italy – Allah's Willing Executioners

Medforth AI
A network of migration lawyers in Italy is allegedly gaming asylum laws by presenting migrants as gay or at risk of family persecution to halt deportations,
an investigation by Il Giornale claims.
The paper also alleges that the lawyers tell migrants to say they would face persecution from their families if they returned home.
One Bologna lawyer told the paper:
If a migrant is Nigerian, everything is focused on homosexuality. It’s claimed that their client is gay and that if repatriated, he or she will face persecution. If, however, the detainee is of another nationality, the focus is on the family harassment he or she would face if returned to his or her homeland. It’s a fixed pattern.
Journalist Matt Carus described this as proof that “we’re beyond human rights, we’re at organised fraud,” and said the state—and, indeed, the Italian taxpayer—was being “taken for a ride.”

"Many European Abbeys Will Disappear" - Norbertine Abbot General

Many European abbeys will disappear in the near future, Abbot Jos Wouters of the Norbertine monastic order, told ND.nl on 22 April. He is the abbot general of 38 abbeys worldwide.
The interview was prompted by reporting on conditions in Berne Abbey, Netherlands, where there is said to have been a years-long culture of fear and power struggles.
Abbot Wouters notes that monasteries are receiving fewer and fewer vocations.
According to him, interested people are increasingly psychologically vulnerable individuals: "Out of a survival instinct, abbeys accept such people, even though they are completely unsuitable."
Abbot Wouters believes that his order is incapable of properly training individuals with "baggage".
He warns that such people compensate for their "inner weakness" by becoming overly bossy.
"Religion then functions like an exoskeleton, as with a lobster, which has no skeleton inside: it is hard on the outside to hide the weakness within."

This also happens in the Industrial workforce. With an inexperienced person placed into a position of power and authority, power quickly goes to his head and leadership skills are lost.
A "How to Become a Good Supervisor" seminar focuses on transitioning from individual contributor to leader by mastering communication, conflict resolution, and performance management. Key topics include active listening, setting clear expectations, delivering constructive feedback, and building team trust. These seminars, often available via SkillPath, AMA, or online modules, emphasize practical tools to boost team morale and productivity.
