The Ontario's government announced yesterday that it intends to pass legislation called, Putting Student Achievement First Act. This is to make changes to public and separate education. The government claims it's to improve school board governance, student learning and teacher training. The Doug Ford government has taken over the governance of eight school boards. It was done over the concern of financial mismanagement, growing deficits, and depleted reserves. The boards under supervision are: Toronto District School Board (TDSB), Toronto Catholic District School Board (TCDSB), Peel District School Board (PDSB), York Catholic District School Board (YCDSB), Thames Valley District School Board (TVDSB), Ottawa-Carleton District School Board (OCDSB), Near North District School Board (NNDSB), Dufferin-Peel Catholic District School Board (DPCDSB).
