Pope Benedict XVI (Latin: Benedictus PP. XVI; Italian: Benedetto XVI; German: Benedikt XVI; born Joseph Aloisius Ratzinger; 16 April 1927 – 31 December 2022) was the head of the Catholic Church and sovereign of the Vatican City State from 19 April 2005 until his resignation on 28 February 2013. Benedict's election as pope occurred in the 2005 papal conclave that followed the death of Pope John Paul II. Benedict chose to be known as "Pope emeritus" upon his resignation, and he retained this title until his death in 2022.

California Teacher Wins $360K Settlement for Upholding Christian Values SWNews
Jessica Tapia, a California teacher, won a $360,000 settlement after being fired for refusing to comply with gender-fluid policies. Tapia's dismissal stemmed from her conservative views on LGBT issues and her refusal to compromise her conscience by allowing male students in female locker rooms or withholding information from parents about gender dysphoria signs in their children. Despite the settlement, the district maintains no admission of wrongdoing. Tapia's victory sets a precedent for teachers to stand firm in their beliefs despite pressures to conform.

Born to the Carthaginian Christian nobility. Captured by invading Vandals in 616, and sold into slavery to a pagan Syrian merchant named Eusebius. When the slave ship landed at Cape Corso, Corsica, a pagan festival was in progress, and Julia was ordered to join in; some versions indicate that participation would have won her freedom. When she refused, her hair was torn out of her head, and she was martyred. Born 6th to 7th century Carthaginian Died beaten and crucified c.616–620 at Cape Corso, Corsica relics at the Benedictine abbey at Brescia, Italy in 763, which became a middle ages pilgrimage site some relics later taken to Leghorn (modern Livorno, Italy Canonized Pre-Congregation Patronage torture victims Corsica, France Brescia, Italy Leghorn, Italy Livorno, Italy
