Italian Priest Proposes "Baby Girl" as Christ in Nativity scene: On 3 December, Father Vitaliano Della Sala, pastor in Capocastello (Diocese of Avellino, Italy), told a local television station that a 'baby girl Jesus' should be introduced into nativity scenes because God could have incarnated as a woman as well. Marking 100 years since the founding of the Pontifical Institute of Christian Archaeology, he described the discipline as “indispensable for understanding Christianity”: “Revelation is always history. If this is so, then understanding Revelation requires an adequate knowledge of the historical, cultural and material contexts in which it took place,” he wrote. The Pontifical Institute, founded in 1925, is led by German priest Stefan Heid. He is world-famous for his research showing that the early Church celebrated Holy Mass ad orientem.

The allegation centers on her decision to send a confidential email about abuse claims directly to the accused priest, bypassing formal disciplinary procedures. The case involves a victim known as “Survivor N,” who filed a formal complaint in 2020 and reportedly received no response. Mullally has since acknowledged that "Survivor N" was not given adequate support by the Church.
