The daughter of the founder of Hamas converts to Christianity
Juman Al Qawasmi is the daughter of one of the founders of the Hamas terrorist group and the ex-wife of one of its leaders. Juman grew up being taught that her loyalty lay with the Hamas cause. She was taught to see Jews and Christians as enemies and as a religious threat.
"I was born and raised in Qatar. My father is one of the founders of Hamas. My parents encouraged us to hate Israel, Jews, Christians, even everyone who didn't belong to Hamas. We had to kill them, because that's what the Quran says."
In 2007, Hamas took control of Gaza. Until then, Jews and Palestinians had lived in relative peace, but during that time she witnessed acts of violence, even against Palestinians, as the group consolidated its power.
"Between 2002 and 2012, I lived in Gaza and saw what Hamas was doing when they took power. They said they came to bring equality for all and fulfill their promises, and none of that happened."
These experiences fueled a deep unease within her. Juman began to question not only the doctrine, but also the way her family and political movement wielded authority. "It wasn't permitted to ask questions in Islam," she stated.
Between 2012 and 2014, she lived through moments of fear. She recounts that when the Israeli army warned her of an imminent bombing in her neighborhood, that night, as her family fled, she prayed deeply: "God, if you exist, I want to know you, I want you to save me."
After that plea, Juman recounts an experience that changed the course of her life: in a dream, she saw her mother, who had died some time before, sitting on a balcony watching the moon. The moon grew larger, and she saw the face of Jesus in the moon, who spoke to her in Arabic: "I am God, Jesus. You are my daughter; do not be afraid." When I woke up, I felt a light in the room, something like, "This is real!"
She had never heard the name "Jesus" nor had she had any contact with Christians. "My community was 100% Muslim; my activities consisted of going to the Islamic center and memorizing the Quran. I had never met Christian people in my life," she says.
However, that vision awakened an unknown inner peace within her. "No one had ever spoken to me about Him before, but when I heard His name, I felt it was a beautiful name, a beautiful God, and I felt peace within me. For the first time, Someone loved me; I had never felt loved by my family," she explains. Motivated by that experience, she sought more information.
She found a Christian website in Arabic, where a message caught her attention: "Love your enemies." This teaching seemed completely contrary to what she had been taught since childhood: enemies were to be killed, not loved. This made her realize that she was facing a different God than the one she had been taught about in Islam.
Through this website, she connected with other believers, began reading the Bible, and delved deeper into the new faith until, finally, she decided to convert to Christianity. In addition to her spiritual conversion, Juman has made explicit criticisms of Hamas. She states that the group not only preaches fighting against Israel but also governs through fear and oppression.
“I was born into Islam and I’ve never been satisfied with God. I felt that God would never be happy with me; I had no guarantee of going to paradise. I was always afraid of hell. Islam doesn’t give you peace; you’re always afraid that something bad will happen,” she says.
“Islam teaches children to hate, to fight, it fills their heads with violence. But truth isn’t born from hatred.” And she adds, “Jesus loves Muslims, he loves them deeply, and he wants to liberate them.”
Today, Juman affirms that her identity is no longer defined by her family lineage or her past in Hamas, but by her new relationship with God: she describes herself as “a daughter of the living God.”
"Jesus is urging us on right now. Let him in, because he is life and he has come to give you life, to give you joy, to give you freedom. Jesus loves Muslims. He loves us so much. He wants us to be free from this fear, he wants to set us free. We don't have to be afraid; we should fix our eyes on Jesus and believe that he is the way. The only way."

Juman said, she didn't know any Christians, nor had ever met one, yet, Christ appeared to her in a dream and told her He was God and loved her. As the Church teaches there is no salvation outside the Church, but for those who sincerely seek Him with a pure heart, He will make a way for them to find Him.

God bless her. I hope and pray she will receive all the graces necessary in order to live a holy Christian life.
