Bishop Athanasius Schneider thanked Pope Leo XIV for a private audience, praising the pope’s attentiveness and understanding while keeping the meeting’s details confidential. Schneider said he shared proposals for the spiritual good of the Church and urged prayers for the pope to strengthen faith and promote justice and peace in the Church’s liturgical life. In earlier comments, Schneider said he would advise the pope to clarify key doctrinal issues, restore full freedom for the traditional Mass, and carefully appoint faithful bishops. The two share an Augustinian background and experience serving the poor, despite coming from very different parts of the world.
Writing on IlGiornale.it, Nico Spuntoni confirmed that Pope Leo XIV has sent his Christmas letter to the cardinals. He thanks them for their support and describes the January 7–8 extraordinary consistory as a moment of communion and shared responsibility. The letter identifies four topics for discussion at the consistory: - Renewed evangelisation in light of 'Evangelii Gaudium'. - The relationship between the universal Church and dioceses, as addressed in 'Praedicate Evangelium'. - The Synod and synodality as instruments of collaboration with the Roman Pontiff. - The liturgy: through in-depth theological, historical, and pastoral reflection "in order to retain sound tradition and yet remain open to legitimate progress.” This quotation comes from Sacrosanctum Concilium 23, which sets out general norms for the reform of the Mass. Spuntoni hopes: 'This passage appears to leave open the possibility of discussion among the cardinals regarding how to address the steadily growing communities …More
THE MAN WHO KILLED ST. MARIA GORETTI This is Alessandro Serenelli, (the man who killed St Maria Goretti for not allow him to defile her in 1902) venerating the image of Maria Goretti. Alessandro was sentenced to 30 years in prison. At his trial, he blamed Maria for her own death claiming that he was defending himself from a sexual attack that she herself instigated. In prison he was locked in isolation as his anger would lead to outbursts of physical violence against other inmates. One night, six years into his prison sentence, Maria appeared to Alessandro. She appeared in a garden picking 14 white lily flowers, handing them to him one by one. This gesture of forgiveness, this act of love, filled Alessandro with light and the Holy Spirit. He immediately became contrite for what he did to that little girl. He finished the rest of his sentence in tranquility. In fact, his behavior became so docile, and the transformation of his person was so dramatic, that he was released three years …More
A retired New York bishop has filed for personal bankruptcy protection in federal court after a state jury verdict found him, along with other officials, personally liable for the collapse of a Catholic hospital pension fund that left about 1,100 retirees without the lifetime monthly payments they were expecting.

Bishop Supports Imam Release: In late November, Bishop Derio Olivero of Pinerolo publicly defended Imam Mohamed Shahin during his detention, criticizing the Interior Ministry’s expulsion order. “Mohamed Shahin has been in Italy for 21 years, has no criminal record, and has always worked seriously for dialogue and cooperation in Turin,” the bishop said. “It seems strange and absurd that he now risks expulsion for opinions: in Italy there is freedom of opinion.” Shahin is accused of statements made at a pro-Palestinian demonstration in Turin, where he allegedly described the October 7, 2023 Hamas attacks as “resistance, not violence,” and said they were “the natural outcome of 11 wars waged against the Palestinians.” The Interior Ministry interpreted these remarks as justifying terrorism and posing a threat to public security. On December 15, the Turin Court of Appeal ordered Shahin’s immediate release, ruling there was no “concrete and current” danger, though the expulsion order …More
The Bishop of Charlotte announced that beginning next month, altar rails, kneelers, prie-dieus, and intinction will not be permitted for reception of the Eucharist in the diocese. While affirming that standing is the normative posture in the U.S., Bishop Martin acknowledged that Catholics retain the right to receive kneeling and may not be denied Communion for doing so, urging the faithful to consider the value of a common posture as a sign of communal unity.
Bishop Michael Martin of Charlotte, North Carolina, has banned the public use of kneelers for receiving Communion with effect from 16 January 2026. In a letter published on CharlotteDiocese.org on 17 December, he writes that using them is 'a visible contradiction to the normative posture of Holy Communion established by our episcopal conference'. The text begins with pious or banal quotations. He then admits that it is the right of the faithful to kneel when receiving Holy Communion. But: "The normative posture for all the faithful in the United States is standing." "Faithful individuals who feel compelled to kneel to receive the Eucharist, as is their right, should prayerfully consider the communal blessing that is realised when we share a common posture." Monsignor Martin refers to the norms of the US bishops' conference which "logically" do not envisage the use of kneelers or receiving communion. The three main points of the letter are: 1. Clergy, catechists, ministers of Holy Communion …More
Why is that woman, standing in what should be the Sanctuary, wearing a fake bishop's mitre and a very short skirt? The Blessed Mother said fashions would be introduced which would be very offensive to God.
Pope Leo XIV has today appointed Bishop Charles Moth, 67, currently Bishop of Arundel and Brighton, as Archbishop of Westminster. Born in Chingola, Northern Rhodesia (now Zambia), he moved with his family to the United Kingdom at the age of two. He grew up in Kent and first felt called to the priesthood as a teenager. He was ordained a priest on 3 July 1982 for the Archdiocese of Southwark and went on to study canon law, working in parish ministry and as private secretary to the Archbishop of Southwark. He later became vicar general of the archdiocese. In July 2009, Pope Benedict XVI appointed him as the Bishop of the Forces in the UK. In March 2015, Pope Francis promoted him to Bishop of Arundel and Brighton. Your Story Hidden in Jesus' Family Line The genealogy of Jesus is crucial for understanding His humanity and fulfillment of God’s promises to Abraham and David. It demonstrates that Jesus, though divine, is also human, inheriting His human nature from Mary and His legal standing from Joseph. This genealogy also highlights God’s providence, showing how He works through imperfect individuals to fulfill His promises, a truth that extends to all of our lives. Fr. Altier’s Daily Homilies Fr. Genetic engineering interventions for the prevention of infectious diseases must be stopped and banned immediately, write Bhakdi, Hockertz, Sterz, Wodarg et al. in an open letter. tkp.at Dec 13 2025 In a dramatic open letter, the most important German scientific critics of the Corona measures from the very beginning, including Helmut Sterz, Dr. med. Wolfgang Wodarg, Prof. Dr. med. Sucharit Bhakdi, and Prof. Dr. rer. nat. Stefan W. Hockertz, make it unequivocally clear: "Anyone still participating is acting criminally!" Despite all attempts at a cover-up, the extent of what is arguably the greatest crime in human history is becoming increasingly clear. Since 2020, the world has been lied to and tormented by a treacherously orchestrated fear campaign and subjected to insane measures. All of this served to make people receptive to genetic engineering experiments that were previously considered irresponsibly taboo. Since 2021, it has become increasingly clear what immeasurable suffering …More
James Martin, SJ: "Welcome to New York, Bishop Hicks! A great choice for the Archdiocese of New York: a gifted, hard-working and compassionate pastor close to the poor"
Pope Leo XIV has appointed Bishop Ron Hicks, 58, of Joliet, Illinois, as the 11th Archbishop of New York. Monsignor Hicks was ordained as a priest in 1994 by likely homosexual Cardinal Joseph Bernardin. He was ordained as an auxiliary bishop by pro-homosexual Cardinal Blase Cupich, whom he owes his entire carreer. Cardinal Timothy Dolan, who has led the Archdiocese of New York since 2009, will be remembered for permitting a transvestite show funeral for homosexual activist Cecilia Gentili at St. Patrick’s Cathedral in February 2024. In all likelihood, substantively, Bishop Hicks will not differ significantly from Cardinal Dolan. First Generation-X Prelate at Major US Archdiocese Bishop Hicks will be the first Generation-X prelate (born roughly between 1965 and 1980) to hold a major U.S. see. He comes from a very different era of seminary formation. The Archbishop of New York is traditionally appointed a cardinal. From 2005 to 2010, Bishop Hicks spent five years on missionary assignment …More
