Its exercise can only be restricted by the bishop or the Pope, as provided by canon law."

A native of Karlsruhe, he originally studied law at Heidelberg University before entering the seminary. He holds two doctorates - one in both civil and canon law (doctor iuris utriusque) and another in theology. He also served as rector of Freiburg's seminary. At 48, he was the youngest bishop in Germany when he was ordained auxiliary bishop of Freiburg in 2019. At 55, he now becomes the youngest diocesan bishop in Germany. Turin Parish Holds Funeral for Muslim. Worse than Germany: On 3 July, the body of an Iranian Muslim was brought to Sant'Anna parish in Turin for a ceremony led by the parish priest, Don Valter Danna. The service included Christian prayers and the use of incense. Don Danna said it was not a Catholic funeral but rather a "prayer of farewell," explaining that the family had close ties to the parish.
