Bishop Barron rebukes Cardinal Vesco. In an October 28 post on X.com, Bishop Robert Barron of Winona-Rochester, Minnesota, attacked the Archbishop Jean-Paul Vesco of Algiers. He had claimed that “the Church is not there to convert” and that Christians should approach other religions “through fraternity rather than seeking conversions.” “Excuse me, but…what?” Barron responded. Citing Christ’s command to “make disciples of all nations,” the American bishop added: “Sure sounds like conversion to me.” Bishop Barron then invoked St. Paul, who preached in Corinth, Athens and Thessalonica. Bishop Athanasius Schneider accuses Vatican officials of collaborating with European political elites in promoting mass immigration and contributing to Europe's de-Christianization.
