Pro-homosexual Cardinal José Cobo recently held an off-the-record meeting with select journalists about the conflict surrounding the Valle de los Caídos (Cuelgamuros). Although excluded from the meeting, the Catholic outlet Infovaticana obtained the full audio and published excerpts on January 30. In the recording, Cardinal Cobo downplays the Valley’s importance to Madrid’s Church life and admits his archdiocese has no jurisdiction over the pontifical monastery. He describes internal Church discussions about the possible expulsion of the Benedictines and the government’s plan to “resignify” the site. Cardinal Cobo recounts a meeting with Church leaders and Benedictine prior Santiago Cantera, where they split the issue into two tracks: one concerning the monks, the other the government’s political project. He claims his aim was to prevent expulsion, but admits telling the Benedictines that if they were not removed, they would have to undergo a “process of conversion.” According to …More
I visited this enormous and edifying shrine twice. Removing monks or nuns out of monasteries and convents is NOT a positive move unless some gave sin and scandal has occurred.
In 2025, 82% of religious institutes in the USA had no members making perpetual professions. This is according to the January 2026 study, Women and Men Professing Perpetual Vows in Religious Life: The Profession Class of 2025. It was released by the Center for Applied Research in the Apostolate (CARA) at Georgetown University. The study is based on responses from 520 out of 723 superiors — a response rate of 72% among US religious institutes. Around 10% of institutes reported one perpetual profession, 8% reported between two and nine. Vocations are highly concentrated in a relatively small number of institutes. In total, the responding institutes reported 179 men and women taking perpetual vows in 2025, of whom 105 were men and 74 were women. This reverses a historic pattern. For most of US Catholic history, women's religious life has been numerically dominant. According to the report, 92% of respondents said they had been Catholic since birth. Around 69% were born in the United States. …More

The Vatican is preparing an unprecedented bistro on the large terrace above St Peter’s Basilica. The project would reuse former storage rooms once used by the Sampietrini, the basilica’s maintenance staff. According to LaSicilia.it, furniture and fittings have already been delivered, suggesting the work is well advanced. A small bar already operates on the terrace, and the planned bistro would expand this service as part of the basilica’s gradual musealization.
In Vaticano da tempo si sta silenziosamente lavorando alla realizzazione del primo ristorante nel suo genere perché progettato per funzionare nel cuore della principale basilica patriarcale, collocato proprio sul grande terrazzamento che sovrasta San Pietro.

It is unclear how Pretti first came to the attention of federal authorities, but sources told CNN that about a week before his death, he suffered a broken rib when a group of federal officers tackled him while he was protesting their attempt to detain other individuals. In a statement, the Department of Homeland Security said that “DHS law enforcement has no record of this incident.” A memo sent earlier this month to agents temporarily assigned to the city asked them to “capture all images, license plates, identifications, and general information on hotels, agitators, protestors, etc., so we can …More
Cardinal Matteo Zuppi, as president of the Italian Bishops’ Conference (CEI), stepped too far into political territory with his recent remarks about the upcoming constitutional referendum on justice. According to the author, Zuppi did not simply encourage citizens to vote responsibly, but referred to specific and highly contested elements of the reform, such as the separation of careers between judges and prosecutors, the role of the High Council of the Judiciary, and the balance of powers. The article claims that these references closely mirror the arguments used by opponents of the reform and therefore amount to an implicit political position. It criticizes the subsequent CEI statement meant to downplay the controversy, calling it unconvincing and insufficient to neutralize the political impact of Zuppi’s words. The piece also expresses concern that such interventions risk dividing the Church internally and blurring the line between pastoral guidance and political advocacy, citing …More

"To say that someone is going to burn in hell because they had (pre-marital sex) is just not true" Episcopalian pastor laments that people consider abortion a "sin," then dismisses the idea that pre-marital sex is necessarily a bad thing, or something that Jesus cares about.

Danny argues that President Trump has effectively decided to take the United States to war with Iran, pointing to a Truth Social post in which Trump announces a “massive armada” led by the USS Abraham Lincoln heading toward Iran and threatens far greater destruction if Iran does not agree to a deal banning nuclear weapons. The speaker stresses that this is not symbolic posturing but a serious military buildup with extensive naval and regional air power, comparable in scale to major past conflicts. They contend that this move lacks legal and constitutional justification: Congress has not declared war, there is no specific authorization, and the U.S. has not been attacked. According to the speaker, this makes the decision a unilateral presidential action that puts U.S. troops at risk without a clear national security necessity or articulated rationale. The speaker questions the end goal, arguing there is no credible diplomatic path because the terms reportedly demanded of Iran—ending …More
