Leo XIV Appoints Montse Alvarado to Board of Vatican Foundation

Another Vatican appointment for Montse Alvarado: Leo XIV puts the future head of Vatican communications on the board of his new “Fratello Sole” Foundation - even as her digital record at EWTN offers little to celebrate.
Today, Leo XIV appointed Maria Montserrat “Montse” Alvarado as a member of the Board of Directors of the Vatican’s newly established Fratello Sole Foundation. She becomes the third member of its three-person governing board.
Alvarado is due to take office as Prefect of the Dicastery for Communication on November 1. She is divorced and received a Church annulment of her marriage. She is not a theologian and has attracted attention for arguing in 2022 that Jews should not be converted to Christianity.
Women Taking Over the Vatican
Leo XIV established the Fratello Sole Foundation in June to oversee an agrivoltaic project intended ultimately to meet the electricity needs of Vatican City State.
The three-member board now consists of:

Pope Francis supported a Spanish bishop in his attempt to gain control over Opus Dei’s famous Torrecuidad shrine and take back a historic image of Our Lady

‘THE SECRET OF MARY’ by Saint Louis de Montfort ‘The interior constituents of this consecration and its spirit; pages 12-13, Chapters 5, points 60-64

[Saint Louis-Marie Grignion de Montfort – XVII-XVIII Century AD; born: Montfort-sur-Meu, France/died: Saint-Laurent-sur-Sèvre, France; aged 43, Total consecration to Jesus through Mary]
5. Exterior practices
60. Besides interior practices
, which we have just mentioned, this devotion has certain exterior practices which must not be omitted or neglected.
Consecration and its renewal
61. The first is to choose a special feast-day to consecrate ourselves through Mary
to Jesus, whose slaves we are making ourselves. This is an occasion for receiving Holy Communion and spending the day in prayer. At least once a year on the same day, we should renew the act of consecration.
Offering of a tribute in submission to the Blessed Virgin
62. The second is to give our Lady every year on that same day some little tribute as a token of our servitude and dependence.
This has always been the customary homage paid by slaves to their master. This tribute could consist of an act of self-denial or alms, or a …More

Saint Lawrence Justinian
cybrotius
Lawrence Justinian was a member of the well-known Giustiniani family, which includes several saints. His brothers were Leonardo and Marco. The piety of his mother seems to have served as an inspiration for his own spirituality, as he chose a life of prayer and service. In 1404, after he had been ordained a deacon, at the suggestion of an uncle who was a priest, he joined a community of canons regular following a monastic form of life on the island of San Giorgio in Alga. He was admired by his fellows for his poverty, mortification, and fervency of prayer. Two years after his ordination to the Catholic priesthood in 1407, the community accepted the Rule of St. Augustine. He was chosen to be the first prior of the community.
Lawrence promoted the Constitutions which had been established for the Canons Regular of St. George, which was embraced by other communities of Canons in the region and shortly thereafter he became the Prior General of a …More

Not So Supreme, Mr. Roberts

It’s crazy to think about Donald Trump outrunning anything.
But in legal terms, the president is an Olympic-class sprinter. He breaks the law so fast that the law is left in his orange dust.
Trump is an outlaw. And our system was not built for an outlaw in the Oval.
He zeros in on loopholes in the law and the system that are based on trust and the assumption that our leaders — and their families — will be not be voracious scam artists.
“The Constitution was built on this idea that the president would have enough decency and morality that they just wouldn’t run around exploiting the gaps,” said the Trump biographer Tim O’Brien. “And for Trump, it’s like red meat. This idea that Trump’s mentor was Roy Cohn was profoundly wrong. Donald Trump’s mentor was Fred from day one. His father showed him how to exploit the government …More

Spiritual Shift Before Death: ICU Nurse Reveals 3 Things Patients Always Say Before They Die. | Fellow Nurses Africa

A US-based intensive care unit (ICU) nurse has drawn widespread attention after describing a recurring pattern in the final moments of critically ill patients, one she attributes to an inexplicable “spiritual shift”. Kirstie Roberts, 29, who has four years of experience in ICU settings, shared her observations in a viral social media video that has since been reported by multiple outlets, including The Mirror, Daily Express and Wales Online. According to Ms Roberts, patients nearing the end of life frequently express variations of the same three phrases, often in quick succession: “Can you please tell my family I love them?”“I don’t feel good.”“I know I’m going to die.” She emphasises that these statements appear even when physiological indicators remain stable and no acute deterioration is immediately apparent on monitoring equipment. “There’s a shift that happens, that’s spiritual that nobody can explain,” Ms Roberts said. “Their vitals may be stable, their condition may be the exact …

The Universal Call to Christian Perfection
A Patristic and Scholastic Essay
Poverty, Chastity, and Obedience as the Means to Perfect Charity

PREFACE: THE FALSE ASSUMPTION
There is an error of comfort that has always threatened the Church from within — more dangerous in many respects than the errors that attack her from without, because it does not announce itself as error but settles quietly into the assumptions of ordinary Christian life and makes itself at home there, undisturbed and unexamined, generation after generation.
It is the assumption that not every baptized soul is called to Christian Perfection.
This error takes many forms. It presents itself as realism — an honest acknowledgment that most people are not monks or nuns and cannot be expected to live as though they were. It presents itself as pastoral charity — a merciful lowering of the bar for souls who are, after all, doing their best in difficult circumstances. It presents itself as theological sophistication — a nuanced …More
