New English Bishop: Orthodox on Morals, Silence Since Francis-Controversies

On July 2, Leo XIV appointed a rather orthodox and Catholic priest to an important English see. Rev. Stephen Wang, 59, currently rector of the Venerable English College in Rome, was named Bishop of Arundel and Brighton.
Rev. Wang is the founder of Sycamore, one of the most widely used Catholic evangelization programmes in the English-speaking world.
He is believed to be the first English Catholic bishop with Chinese ancestry. His father is Chinese, with family roots in Guangdong Province in southern China. Wang himself was born in London and grew up in Harpenden, Hertfordshire.

The formula used by Tucho to excommunicate priests and laypeople lacks penal effectiveness

INFOVATICANA | July 2, 2026
The two documents published on 2 July by the Dicastery for the Doctrine of the Faith—a Decree and an Explanatory Note (Prot. N. 99/2009), both signed by Cardinal Víctor Manuel Fernández and the secretaries Armando Matteo and John J. Kennedy—present defects of canonical technique that drastically limit their actual scope. Analyzed in accordance with Book VI of the Code of Canon Law, their juridical effect is reduced to the declaration of six excommunications. With respect to the more than seven hundred priests of the Priestly Fraternity of Saint Pius X and their faithful, the formula employed lacks penal efficacy.
1. Two instruments of distinct juridical nature
On the one hand, the Decree declares “for all juridical purposes” that Bishop Alfonso de Galarreta and the four bishops consecrated on 1 July—Pascal Schreiber, Michael Goldade, Michel Poinsinet de Sivry and Marc Hanappier—have incurred ipso facto the excommunication latae sententiae reserved to the …More

Holy See rules SSPX bishops excommunicated, strips faculties for two sacraments

VATICAN CITY (PerMariam) — Following the Society of Saint Pius X’s consecration of four new bishops, the Holy See has declared all six of the Society’s bishops are now excommunicated, and further warned of heavy penalties for the clergy and faithful attached to the Society. Following through with its prior warnings from May 13 and from June 30, the Vatican has now announced that the penalty of latae sententiae excommunication has been incurred by all six SSPX bishops: Alfonso de Galarreta and Bernard Fellay, Pascal Schreiber, Michael Goldade, Michel Poinsinet de Sivry, Marc Hanappier. The first two were consecrator and co-consecrator at the July 1 ceremony, while the other four were those in receipt of the order of bishop. All six SSPX bishops, July 1, 2026 The Congregation for the Doctrine of the Faith’s Decree cites the reasons as being “episcopal consecration of four presbyters, without a papal mandate and against the will of the Supreme Pontiff,” and then for Bp. Fellay as having …

Cat muse Zealous adherence to salvation of souls ?

Canon law is an evolving aspect of Church life. New situations not envisaged at the time of definition are not always well served by it. Unlike Catholic dogmatic teachings and the natural law, it needs to be refined to cater for the emerging situations. Here we have a zealous adherence to the changeable on the one hand but the tyrannical imposition of the rejection of the unchangeable. A rigid legalistic imposition to serve the flux of dissolution.

African Priest Baptized 175 People the Day Before He Was Shot Dead

The Catholic Church in the Central African Republic is mourning the loss of Father Crépin Martial Monga-Hadassi, 35, who was killed on June 29 while serving one of the country's most conflict-ridden regions.
His funeral was celebrated on July 1 at Saint Peter Claver Cathedral in Bangassou.
Just one day before his death, on June 28, Father Crépin baptized 175 people in one of his final pastoral acts.
On the morning of June 29, he accompanied the newly baptized to the Mbomou River before returning to St. John the Baptist Parish in Zémio, where he served as vicar.
Later that evening, at around 6:43 p.m., the priest was ambushed while returning to the parish rectory. The attack reportedly took place on the road between a Central African Armed Forces (FACA) checkpoint and the parish residence. He was fatally shot, while a female parishioner traveling with him was seriously wounded.
The identity of the attackers remains unknown, and no group has claimed responsibility.

Holy Gospel of Jesus Christ according to Saint John 20,24-29.
Thomas, called Didymus, one of the Twelve, was not with them when Jesus came.
So the other disciples said to him, "We have seen the Lord." But he said to them, "Unless I see the mark of the nails in his hands and put my finger into the nailmarks and put my hand into his side, I will not believe."
Now a week later his disciples were again inside and Thomas was with them. Jesus came, although the doors were locked, and stood in their midst and said, "Peace be with you."
Then he said to Thomas, "Put your finger here and see my hands, and bring your hand and put it into my side, and do not be unbelieving, but believe."
Thomas answered and said to him, "My Lord and my God!"
Jesus said to him, "Have you come to believe because you have seen me? Blessed are those who have not seen and have believed."

THERE IS NO CRISIS: Cardinal Celebrate Homosexual Men’s 50 Years of ‘Partnership’ with ‘Catholic’ Mass

On June 13, 2026, two gay men in one of England’s leading pastoral outreaches to LGBTQ+ people gathered friends and family from far and wide to celebrate a “Mass of Thanksgiving for 50 Years of Friendship, Partnership, and Commitment in the Pursuit of Justice.” Over 150 of us from all over the globe gathered at London’s Holy Apostles Church to share the day’s joy with Julian Filochowski and Martin Pendergast, who were instrumental in starting the Diocese of Westminster’s pastoral ministry with LGBTQ+ people. The ministry began in 1999, soon after a bomb went off at the Admiral Duncan gay bar in London that year which killed three people and an unborn child, and seriously injured 83 others The principal celebrant at the Mass was Fr. Jim O’Keefe, a longtime friend, as principal celebrant. The concelebrants were Bishop John Crowley, emeritus of the Middlesbrough Diocese; Bishop John Rawsthorne, emeritus of the Hallam Diocese;and Canon Chris Vipers, a priest of Holy Apostles parish. It is significant that we have no record in the Gospels of our Lord having visited, or praised, the alternative temple in Samaria. He praised the actions of certain Samaritans for the action's faithfulness to the will of the Father, not for their 'Samaritan-ism' itself. Samaritan behavior of this form was used by our Lord as a sort of 'cattle-prod' to the sons and daughters of the temple of Jerusalem, and ultimately those who would follow Him through His disciples, to "up their game".

It Begins: First U.S. Bishop Declares FSSPX in "Formal Schism"

Bishop Terry R. LaValley of Ogdensburg, New York State, has issued a pastoral letter declaring that the Priestly Fraternity of St. Pius X (FSSPX) is . following the unauthorized ordination of four bishops - in "formal schism" with the Church.
In a letter dated July 1, Bishop LaValley instructed Catholics in the Diocese of Ogdensburg not to participate in FSSPX liturgies or receive sacraments from FSSPX clergy.
He directed Catholics to avoid activities at St. Therese Chapel in Nicholville, New York, as well as any schools operated by the FSSPX.
Instead, Catholics seeking the Mass in the Roman rite should attend liturgies celebrated in "full communion" with the Church at St. Mary's Church in Potsdam or St. Mary's Church in Evans Mills.
The letter also extends an invitation to FSSPX priests who may not wish to participate in what the bishop described as a break with the See of Peter, stating that the Diocese would assist those seeking to remain within the Catholic Church.

There is a schism between the SSPX and the Synodal Church. This is not news, the whole purpose of the SSPX was to preserve the faith from which the Synodal Church (formally the "Conciliar Church") was moving away from, trying to suffocate. The question is not if there is a schism, but which side is continuing the faith of the Apostles. (Spoiler Alert: It isn't the side saying all religions are ordained by God.)

The decree labels all SSPX priests as schismatics subject to excommunication and declares that confessions heard by them and marriages they witness are invalid.

FSSPX Bishops Excommunicated - Clergy Declared Schismatic - Confessions Invalid

The Vatican's Dicastery for the Doctrine of the Faith on July 2 issued a decree excommunicating the six bishops of the Priestly Fraternity of Saint Pius X (FSSPX).
The decree also warns clergy and faithful not to adhere to the Fraternity's schism, stating that doing so incurs automatic excommunication.
An accompanying explanatory note says that all attempts since Pope Paul VI to reconcile the movement founded by Archbishop Marcel Lefebvre with the Catholic Church have failed.
The recent episcopal consecrations against the will of Pope Leo XIV, it says, "constituted the offense of schism, with the resulting canonical consequences for the sacred ministers and lay faithful involved."
"The sacred ministers belonging to the Priestly Fraternity of Saint Pius X are in schism and must therefore be considered schismatics."
Lay faithful who formally adhere to the Fraternity are likewise to be considered schismatics and excommunicated.
The FSSPX clergy administer "the sacraments illicitly": "The …More

A grandson is a sweet kind of voluntary servitude. Maybe that is how God designed it: just when the colors of the world begin to fade, a little miracle appears and lights a fire inside you again, like gasoline poured onto dying embers.
A grandson makes us fully human. There is an old saying that only people raise their grandchildren in this way, unlike most creatures in nature. And there is something true in that. That long-forgotten, intoxicating baby smell works on you like magic. Suddenly, you understand your own grandparents—the ones who once embarrassed you, fussed over you, and seemed a little too obsessed. For our children, we were willing to do a lot. For our grandchildren, we are willing to do everything. Now we are exactly like our grandparents were. Maybe even worse.
A grandson is medicine for every ache. Back pain? Neck pain? Bad knees? Please. Just wait until you have a grandchild. Somehow, everything starts working again. Not long ago, I could barely get up without complaining …More
