Bishop Hugh Gilbert of Aberdeen, Scotland, has expressed his “deep regret” regarding the tone, direction and key elements of a recent letter by the Transalpine Redemptorists. In a statement posted on his diocese's website on 24 October, he said that the letter “is incompatible with the Catholic sense of the Church’s unity”. The community of the Roman rite is within the Diocese of Aberdeen. On 16 October, it published a letter no longer recognising the 'modern church'. "After years of examination and experience, we have come to the regrettable conclusion that the traditional Catholic faith, the faith of all times and of the saints, is incompatible with the new, modern Church, the fruit of the Second Vatican Council. At the Summorum Pontificum Mass at St. Peter’s Basilica Cardinal Raymond Burke accepted Vatican Council II, interpreted irrationally which contradicts the ecclesiology of the Roman Missal. He interprets Vatican Council II irrationally and not rationally and this is a rupture with the Athanasius Creed. This is schism. He does not interpret the Council rationally and so there is a rupture with the dogma extra ecclesiam nulla salus. There are now two versions of the Nicene Creed, his and mine. Mine is the original. His has exceptions when there is a reference to the baptism of desire. This is the same doctrinal chaos shared by the Society of St. Pius X at the Latin Mass and there is no comment.
