Cardinal Grech: "New Stage in Reception of Vatican II"

The implementation phase of the synod “will mark a new stage in the reception of the Second Vatican Council,” Cardinal Mario Grech warned the consistory on Saturday. He is a 🌈 Cardinal and the Vatican's Secretary of the Synod.
His lengthy speech, which was around 3,000 words long, was published on Zenit.org. Much of it was frankly repetitive, focusing on buzzwords such as listening, discernment, communion, participation, the 'exchange of gifts', implementation, and 'conversation in the Spirit'.
In terms of density of ideas, the speech was pretty low.
The essential message was
• the Synod is not over.
• implementation is the real work.
• synodality should become part of the Church's ordinary life.
• this is the next stage of Vatican II.
Two key sentences were:
"The discernment of the signs of the times, ecumenical and interreligious dialogue, and the commitment to justice and peace become measures of the Church's diakonia."
"In this way, the implementation phase becomes a new stage …sɔgbɔ ɖe edzi

"FSSPX Are Schismatic Priests": Cardinal Gerhard Müller told EWTN that Catholics “cannot go” to Masses offered by the Priestly Fraternity of Saint Pius X (SSPX): “They shouldn't go and cannot go, participate in the masses of the schismatic priests.” He added that Catholics must accept not only dogmas such as the Trinity and the Incarnation, but also that “the Church is the visible presence of the Body of Jesus Christ.” Regarding the FSSPX's planned episcopal consecrations, he said: “Consecrations without the Pope are absolutely impossible against the will of God, and who is working against God will be excommunicated.” The Vatican has so far never used the word "schism" or "schismatic" in context with the FSSPX.

Cardinal Müller's remarks to EWTN (June 26) were strikingly uncompromising: "Catholics cannot go to these schismatic priests."

Has there ever been a time like this? The FSSPX is not doing something new, as throughout history of the Church there has been consecrations without papal aproval and nothing happened, because the salvation of souls is #1 and above everything else, BUT we are living in such dangerous times that we no longer distinguish good from bad and light with dark, this is why the FSSPX is doing what's best for their sheep and I (even though im not one of them), stands with them.

Dr. Brovkin answers why President Putin is loved and hated

This is Part One of the interview for the British audience I gave a few days ago, where I answer questions not so much on the contemporary politics but on Russian Soviet History. Why did the Soviet Union collapse? Why did Putin come to power? Why is he so popular in Russia and so much detested in some West European ruling circles? Dr. Brovkin served as an Associate Professor of Soviet History at Harvard University, he is the author of numerous books on Russian History and politics. His latest book: From Vladimir Lenin to Vladimir Putin: Russia in Search of Its identity (Routledge, London 2024) is available from Amazon and Routledge.com. I am corrected by Dr. Brovkin. It's not 83 -84% favorabilty but 86%! I thought it was higher. But I went by someone I watch. I use to see many interviews with many people and their happiness I knew he was off. But still a very high number for a man in office so long. And they will continue to vote for him as long as he runs. Which came from each interview. But I don't think there will be a next time to vote for anyone. I think Putin's time is over. He has done all he can and hopefully will see it till the end of his term. With GOD stepping in, or I should say, stepping back to let The Great Chastisement begin. As we are only in the very beginnings of it. The way I see it is, as well as others and from Putin himself, while he is going slowly in Ukraine to save lives of men on both sides. GOD is allowing things to go slow so He can call souls to Himself. Does anyone else see it that way? Or am I the only one to see this?

26 neoconservative theology professors from Franciscan University of Steubenville - including Scott Hahn, John Bergsma, Michael Waldstein, Mark Miravalle, and university president Fr. Dave Pivonka - has published an open letter urging the FSSPX not to proceed with episcopal consecrations without a pontifical mandate. They represent a substantial portion of Steubenville's influential Theology Department (about 30 faculty members). Their argument is that no crisis in the Church justifies an act that would further damage the Church's visible unity with the Pope.

Open letter addressed to the SSPX leadership by nearly all the theologians of Franciscan University of Steubenville. «We write not as adversaries, but as fellow Christians who love the Church, which is built on Sacred Scripture and Sacred Tradition, and who, like you, long for the salvation of souls. Open Letter to the Society of Saint Pius X (General House)

Dear Members of the General Council
Dear Brothers and Sisters in Christ!
We write not as adversaries, but as fellow Christians who love the Church, which is built on Sacred Scripture and Sacred Tradition, and who, like you, long for the salvation of souls.
Your love for the beauty of the traditional liturgy and your reverence in worship witness your earnest desire to serve the Lord. We share this love and desire.
With humility we ask you to reconsider the announced consecration of bishops, scheduled for July 1st. It would cement and deepen the already existing separation between the Society and the See of Peter. Our Lord Jesus Christ prayed to the Father, “that all may be one” (John 17:21). Unity in the Church is not merely practical; it belongs to the very will of Christ. The Church is one because Christ is one. We are convinced that every …

"Church Can Never Accept Homosexual Lifestyle": Following a pro-homosexual Eucharist presided over by Washington Cardinal Robert McElroy at Georgetown University on June 20, New York Father Gerald Murray noted that McElroy was attempting to “let the steamroller keep rolling down the street” in order to promote homosexual sins within the Church. “The propaganda continues,” said Father Murray. Cardinal McElroy holds the view that acceptance of the homosexual lifestyle is “inevitable.” “That will never happen; it can never happen,” Father Murray concluded.

Fr. Murray on Cardinal McElroy's decision to celebrate Mass at a recent LGBT gathering in Washington, DC: "McElroy is trying to roll this steamroller down the road further, saying that it's inevitable that the church is going to accept the homosexual lifestyle. It never will"

"A Madman Can Separate the Gospel from Cultural Husks"

In his May 2026 lecture at the Pontifical Urbaniana University, Cardinal Víctor "Tucho" Fernández said: "Sometimes it takes a madman, desperately in love with his land and his people, capable of separating the Gospel from certain cultural husks that have become attached to it but are not an essential part of its message, and of rereading it in the light of what his people are living today."
Tucho added: "Ultimately, it is the Gospel, written within an ancient culture, that now acquires another 'flesh' in popular rites, venerated images, aphorisms and customs, reflections, ways of living the faith, and in music."
On 25 June, Carlos Daniel Lasa wrote on ElWanderer.com that Tucho's contextual theology displaces Revelation and makes the lived experience of each people the decisive point for theology. Tucho relativises immutable doctrine and reduces theology to historical interpretation.
Lasa's central thesis is even more far-reaching: Pope Francis sought to "refound" the Church, appointed …sɔgbɔ ɖe edzi

The Apostolic faith speaks to the eternal essence of God and the unchanging struggle of humans which is resolved by the timeless sacrifice on Calvary. Tucho claims that what he doesn't like in the Apostolic faith are cultural accretions. He is wrong. Lace, the mitre, and even his red zucchetto are cultural accretions. The seven deadly sins and sins which cry out to Heaven for vengeance are as fundamental to salvation as DNA is to life. This may be painful for Tucho. My heart goes out to him. But salvation comes from taking up your cross and requires sacrifice of your own preferences for the sake of Christ.

Cardinal Müller at Consistory: "We Must Respond to the Lefebvrists"

Cardinal Gerhard Müller spoke at the June 26 consistory about the Priestly Fraternity of Saint Pius X (FSSPX), IlGiornale.it reports.
He addressed the FSSPX's allegations that the Vatican has deviated from the Church's magisterium. Cardinal Müller proposed preparing a response to the Fraternity that would affirm that Rome has never abandoned the path of Catholicism, contrary to their claims.
He also said that, following Wednesday's episcopal consecrations, many Lefebvrists would seek to enter into full canonical communion with the Church.
The Vatican should prepare to welcome them back by proposing a structure modelled on the Pontifical Commission Ecclesia Dei, which was established by Pope John Paul II in 1988.
Cardinal Müller's intervention was received without comment during the session.

"Young People Want Traditional Mass": Bishop James Conley of Lincoln, Nebraska, told EWTN on June 26 that he sees "a resurgence of interest in all things traditional, especially among young people": "They want reverence. They want transcendence. They want beauty in the liturgy." He believes this desire is also influencing the Novus Ordo: "I believe that we're seeing a trend turning more traditional even in the Novus Ordo. And I think this is a good thing." Ordained in 1985, Bishop James Conley has celebrated the Mass in the Roman rite since 1988, though about 95% of the time he uses the Novus Ordo.

Bishop James Conley, Lincoln: "There is a resurgence of interest in all things traditional, especially among young people. I see it in my own diocese. They want reverence. They want transcendence. They want beauty in the liturgy."
"Thanks be to God we have not only the Fraternity of Saint Peter, but I have a couple of priests who celebrate, with permission of the Holy See, a Sunday Mass in the Extraordinary Form... It's my hope that as they continue to ordain priests... they will be able to meet the needs of the people who desire this form of the Mass."

Slaughter of a nation: EU plans to exclude Ukrainians of military age from EU asylum protection

The European Union famously accepted millions of refugees from other countries at war, the majority of which were military-aged males. Now, those protections will be ending for Ukrainian males who are fleeing conscription in Ukraine.
Magnus Brunner, EU commissioner for internal affairs and migration, announced that the European Commission proposes to extend temporary protection for Ukrainians until March 4, 2028, with the
exception of people fleeing military service in Ukraine.
“To ensure this, temporary protection is not to be granted as a rule to newly arriving persons, who are not authorized by the Ukrainian authorities to leave Ukraine in view of their military obligations,” said Brunner. “This is what Ukraine has asked us to do, and this is what we are doing.”
He added that the European Commission’s proposal “takes into account Ukraine’s changing defense and reconstruction needs.”
Already, hundreds of thousands of young Ukrainian males have died at the front or been seriously …

The 2-Minute Rule That Can Help You Stop Procrastinating
Let's be honest—almost everyone has put off an important task at some point. We tell ourselves we'll start tomorrow, after we're less busy, less tired, or less stressed. But tomorrow often turns into next week.
Fortunately, there's a surprisingly simple strategy that can make it much easier to get started: the Two-Minute Rule.
The truth is, many of the things we avoid aren't actually difficult. We already have the skills to do them. What's holding us back isn't the task itself—it's taking the first step.
The Two-Minute Rule has two simple parts, and together they can help you overcome procrastination and build lasting habits.
Part 1: If it takes less than two minutes, do it now.
You'd be surprised how many small tasks can be finished almost immediately.
Wash the dishes after dinner.

"Behold, I the Lord am this peasant, for men consider me to be a donkey raised in its stall according to its ways and habits. My name is the foundation of the Holy Church, but she is now considered to be contemptible, since the sacraments of the Church, namely baptism, confirmation, anointing, penance, and matrimony, are taken, as it were, with derision and given to others for the sake of greed. My words and deeds are considered and judged to be foolish and vain, for the words that I spoke in parables with my own mouth, have now been converted from a spiritual understanding to temporal entertainment. My house is looked on as contemptible, for the things of the earth are loved instead of the things of Heaven."
