Leo XIV suppresses Vatican donations commission: Published today, Leo XIV’s document Vinculum unitatis et caritatis abolishes the Commissio de donationibus pro Sancta Sede. This fundraising body was created only in February by Pope Francis during his hospital stay. According to SilereNonPossum, Monsignor Roberto Campisi, who headed the commission, intended to install his own people. All statutes, acts, and mandates of the commission lose immediate force. Its assets pass to the Holy See, with APSA handling liquidation. Oversight of donations and the redesign of the Vatican’s fundraising system is reassigned to the Council for the Economy, the Secretariat for the Economy, and newly appointed working groups, which will develop a new unified model within the Vatican’s ordinary economic structures.
The Vatican on Thursday published the conclusions of its study commission on women deacons. The Commission rules out admitting women to the diaconate understood as a degree of the sacrament of Holy Orders, but without issuing a definitive judgment at this time. The report stresses repeatedly that the negative assessment is “strong” yet “does not permit formulating a definitive judgment,” unlike the case of priestly ordination. Submission of the Report to Pope Leo XIV On 18 September, Cardinal Giuseppe Petrocchi, President of the Study Commission on the Female Diaconate, submitted to Pope Leo XIV a detailed synthesis of the Commission’s work. The report reflects several years of historical, theological, and pastoral investigation. Historical Findings: A Non-Sacramental Ancient Practice The Commission revisited the findings of two earlier Vatican commissions. Historical research confirms that, in the early Church, the title deaconess appeared in different regions and periods, but with …More
Mon Dec 1, 2025 - 5:27 pm EST (LifeSiteNews) — The board chair of a Nigerian human rights organization, during an interview last week with Crux, slammed Vatican Secretary of State Cardinal Pietro Parolin for downplaying the role of Islam in the brutal genocide against the country’s Christians and said that he is encouraging further acts of Islamic terrorism against the faithful. During the interview, which was published on November 27, Emeka Umeagbalasi, the board chair of the International Society for Civil Liberties and the Rule of Law (Intersociety) emphasized that Parolin’s comments diminishing the role of Islam in the genocide of Nigerian Christians provides diplomatic cover for Islamic terrorists, weakens the Church’s moral standing, and ultimately emboldens Islamic terrorists to continue committing genocide. Parolin came under fire in October for downplaying the influence that Islam has played in the persecution, framing the violence against Nigerian Christians as a “social …

“Our Lady is not Co-Redemptrix” - Brazil Archbishop: "We don’t need to say that Mary is co-Redemptrix, that Jesus needs Mary to save humanity. Mary herself is prepared, saved by God; she is a creature of God. She makes herself the servant of her own son, but she is not co-redemptrix", Archbishop Juárez Marqués of Teresina, Brazil, said on November 27 in an interview with the local TV Jornal TV Cidade Verde.
“Não precisamos dizer que Maria é corredentora, que Jesus precisa de Maria para salvar a humanidade. Maria mesma, ela é preparada, salva por Deus, é a criatura de Deus. Se faz serva do seu próprio filho, mas não é corredentora, agora ela é intercessora nossa”, disse o arcebispo de Teresina (PI), dom Juarez Marques ontem (27), em uma entrevista ao Jornal TV Cidade Verde.
The Associazione Dipendenti Laici Vaticani (ADLV), a union-like association representing the Vatican's lay employees, has questioned in a December 3 statement the optimism surrounding the recent Vatican financial report. Last week, the Vatican announced a budget surplus of €1.6 million, its first positive result after years of deficits—a development presented as a sign of progress. However, the ADLV argues that the information released remains partial and insufficient. Employees say they would prefer the Vatican to regularly publish complete, certified budgets—both forecast and final—accompanied by detailed documentation, rather than relying on visually appealing slide presentations that lack the depth required for serious evaluation. As the ADLV notes, it is difficult to believe in a genuine financial recovery when essential data are still missing. Surplus Driven by Donations and Market Gains According to the association, the surplus is not the result of structural reforms or improved …More

We continue to post Advent reflections by the Church Fathers. It's a good way to prepare to celebrate Christmas. The reflections and quotations come from the book called, Advent and Christmas with the Church Fathers by Marco Pappalardo. Introduction The preannounced and long-awaited promise of the Old Testament is fulfilled at Christmas. The Messiah is God who becomes man for us. Everything in the Scriptures is a prelude to and preparation for this event that would become the heart of salvation history through his Death and Resurrection. It is the long-awaited occasion, our lover knocking at the door, and the reason we have made ourselves beautiful and dressed ourselves in festive attire. This divine time, this propitious moment, is not simply a memory today; rather, it is remembering and daily renewing God’s offer of love for us. Eusebius of Caesarea, Church History, I, 2, 17ff. This is the moment: behold, the Master of all virtues, the Father’s Minister for the distribution all good …
The latest conclusions of the national Covid Inquiry have hit the headlines, and those who supported lockdown feel vindicated. An expert-led process costing £200 million has broadly endorsed the government’s approach, concluding that lockdown “was right” — and should, in fact, have happened sooner. But the inquiry has also been labelled as a £200 million pound “I told you so” exercise; never willing to challenge the underlying assumptions of the lockdown strategy. Critics point to the fact that the inquiry uncritically accepted figures based on discredited modelling, and ignored real-world data such as the comparative case of Sweden. They believe that lockdowns not only couldn’t significantly change the mortality rate from an airborne virus, but that they cost lives, wrecked the economy as well as socially, educationally, and psychologically crippling a generation. Later modules of the Covid Inquiry will give more opportunity for submissions on the effect of lockdown on Catholic …

One reason is because most parishes are being run as a business, with the priest as a CEO. There are more lay people running the parish which reduces the priest to a caretaker. He has very little authority as the laity tell him which preface to use, what the homily should be and what Mass he is supposed to celebrate. To quote an old maxim there are too many chiefs and not enough Indians.
