1106. Poland in the future of Europe – World Scam

The new US national security strategy has caused considerable confusion in European politics. What does it mean that NATO will no longer defend us in exchange for our subservient attitude towards the US? That was precisely the solid foundation on which most European politicians built their strategies. How convenient – they only have to nod and ignore American crimes, and they can save themselves the expense of armaments. What use is sovereignty, which is hardly monetizable? Although some politicians have managed to do so…
And then suddenly: Save yourselves – Europe is threatened by independence from the US! The United States has no interest in investing in a Europe that is collapsing – economically and politically – on its own. You don’t feed parasites – it’s best to force them to take their fate into their own hands. With the current politicians of most European countries, that’s impossible. They live in a prehistoric Cold War world.

A major new study finds there are far more benefits gained from becoming a Christian than becoming an atheist.

How Christianity provides meaning and community and atheism does not

What happens when a person converts from one religion to another, or abandons religion altogether? A major new report charts exactly this, and a big finding is that “Conversion into Christianity appears to provide meaning, coherence, and social integration, whilst leaving the faith often coincides with disorientation and emotional decline.”
This stands to reason. When a person converts to a religion, in this case Christianity, a major reason is that they are seeking meaning. But when a person leaves Christianity for atheism or agnosticism, neither will offer the same sense of meaning or community as religion.
“The Changing Landscape of Faith in Britain: Rebirth, Renewal and Reimagining” report by the Institute for the Impact of Faith in Life, focuses on those who have changed their religious identity in Britain. As mentioned, this can involve leaving religion altogether or switching to a new one.
A total of 2,774 adults who self-identified as having experienced a change in their …

Pope Saint Damasus I - December 11
Memorial
11 December
Profile
Raised in a pious family; his father was a priest in Rome, Italy and Damasus served for a time as deacon in his father‘s church, Saint Laurence. Priest. Assistant to Pope Liberius. Chosen 37th pope in a disputed election in which a minority chose the anti-pope Ursinus. The two reigned simultaneously in Rome which eventually led to violence between their supporters and false accusations of Damasus having committed a crime.
His pontificate suffered from the rise of Arianism, and from several schisms including break-away groups in Antioch, Constantinople, Sardinia, and Rome. However, it was during Damasus’ reign that Christianity was declared the religion of the Roman state. He enforced the 370 edict of Emperor Valentinian controlling gifts to prelates, and opposed Arianism and Apollinarianism. He supported the 374 council of Rome which decreed the valid books of the Bible, and the Grand Council of …More

'[VI] Of the Sixth Weapon. - 'The Seven Spiritual Weapons' by Saint Catherine of Bologna – pages 21-22

[Saint Catherine of Bologna – XV Century AD; Bologna/Bologna (aged 49); Virgin; Mystic; Spiritual Writer; Teacher; Artist]
'[VI] Of the Sixth Weapon.
(1) The sixth weapon is the memory of the goods of paradise which are prepared for those who lawfully struggle by abandoning all the vain pleasures of the present life in accord with the saying of the most holy doctor Saint Augustine that it is impossible to enjoy present goods and future ones too.
(2) So, dear sisters, be content not to have in this world any pleasure or any beloved, and do not grow tired of denying your own will, remembering what our patriarch St. Francis said, that is, that the most excellent and greatest gift that God’s servant can receive from God in this world is to conquer himself by denying his own will. So he said: “So great is the good that I behold / that every wound is beloved by me,”38 in order to show how, through the memory of eternal things, he rejoiced in suffering evil.

'Why is nobody helping me?': How schoolgirl, 15, dragged from a park and raped by two Afghan asylum seekers cried out to 'so many people' to be saved - but they just walked right past her

A 15-year-old schoolgirl begged a female passerby to intervene as she was dragged away to be raped by two Afghan asylum seekers, but 'no one came to her aid'.
Horrific details of the victim's ordeal were revealed in court as Jan Jahanzeb and Israr Niazal, both 17, were jailed for the attack in Leamington Spa, Warwickshire.
The two defendants had arrived in Britain in small boats just months before targeting the child in a park on May 10 this year.
Phone footage captured by the victim was so appalling that one of the boy's own barristers warned it would lead to 'disorder' if 'the general public were exposed' to it.
In the distressing three-minute clip, the girl could be heard crying, 'you're going to rape me', as she was led away from where she had been drinking with friends and taken to a secluded 'den-type' area in nearby parkland.
The footage, played at Warwick Crown Court yesterday, also showed her weeping, screaming 'help me, someone help me' and begging not to be taken by the pair. …

Leo XIV: "All Religions Are Mothers. All Believers are Brothers"

This evening, Pope Leo XIV participated in a niche interreligious gathering organised by the Sant’Egido Community at the Colosseum.
At the beginning, Andrea Riccardi emphasised that “the Spirit of Assisi still blows”.
Representatives of various religions were present, including Christian sects, as well as representatives of Judaism, Islam, Buddhism, Hinduism and other faiths. Together, they lit small candles.
Leo XIV held a speech praising the false religions and spiritualties. His key points were:
- We have prayed for peace according to our diverse religious traditions.
- This is our witness: offering the immense treasures of ancient spiritualities to contemporary humanity.
- On 27 October 1986, Saint John Paul IIinvited religious leaders from around the world to Assisi to pray for peace. This historic event marked a turning point in interfaith relations.
- We embrace the challenge of Assisi and the awareness of our shared task and responsibility for peace.
- For the Catholic Church …More

Saint Gregory III | The Pope Who Defended Holy Images | Catechism for Kids
Pope Saint Gregory III (d. 741) was the 90th Pope of the Catholic Church and one of the most courageous defenders of sacred images in Church history. Born in Syria, he was elected Pope by popular acclamation during the funeral of Pope Gregory II — a sign of how beloved and respected he already was in Rome. His papacy is best remembered for his strong stand against iconoclasm, the destruction of holy images forced upon Christians by Byzantine Emperor Leo III. In 731, Gregory III convened a synod in Rome that formally condemned iconoclasm and defended the veneration of sacred images — a teaching that remains central to Catholic tradition today. He worked tirelessly to strengthen Rome, improve monastic life, and support missionaries such as Saint Boniface, helping spread Christianity throughout Germany. He also sought protection from the Franks against the Lombards, laying early foundations for the future alliance …More

Leo XIV on his visit to the Blue Mosque in Istanbul: "But who said I didn't pray?
People claimed I didn't pray, but I had already responded to that on the plane: I mentioned a book and said that it may well be that you are praying even at this moment, do you understand?
The nature of prayer depends on the moment and the place. Personally, I prefer to pray in a Catholic church, before the Blessed Sacrament; but if this moment caused such a stir, it seems a little strange to me."

Why So Few Nuns? Sister Miriam Exposes the Possible Cause

Is there a definitive cause for the collapse in religious vocations?
In
this Pints With Aquinas episode, host Matt Fradd asks Sister Miriam Heidland, SOLT, a pressing question: Why are there so few religious sisters today?
“I think part of it is the attack on spiritual motherhood and spiritual fatherhood…really, it’s the attack on man and woman, and like, who are we?” she begins.
Sister Miriam then shares a personal story and offers her opinion on why there are fewer vocations to the religious life today.
“I was talking with the bishop many months ago, and he was saying that in the 1960s…there was a religious community in Wisconsin that was receiving a hundred women a year. 100 women! And they built a brand new novitiate, and then by 1972, they were receiving just four,” she says.
At this point in her conversation with the bishop, Sister Miriam says, he posed the question: “Women still have the capacity to say ‘yes’ to this divine invitation. What is preventing them?”

But what does the church actually do to encourage young women to enter the religious life? Just about nothing, in my experience.

Pennies, Providence, and the Plain Truth

When we started Gloria.tv almost twenty years ago, we had no idea that you were supposed to have serious start-up capital and a polished financial plan. Thank God we didn’t know!
In hindsight, we believe that it is an act of Divine Providence that Gloria.tv has worked all these years. Being chronically underfunded has taught us:
- to complain and whine to Saint Joseph
- to count every penny and dispense with necessary equipment
- to trust in God, because we never lacked what we needed to pay our bills, not once.
We can't express how grateful we are also to YOU for that!
The upside of lacking a business plan is independence. There are no favours to return, no hidden sponsors waiting for a call-back, and no tribal axe to grind. Gloria.tv is beholden to God and, at its best, serves the Church, the truth and, at least, freedom.
As a social media platform, Gloria.tv is unique among Catholic sites and thus makes a real difference online.
Just like 18 years ago, we still don't have a Plan …More
