Piarist Father Andrea Melis, 60, a former school principal, former head of an association of Catholic schools in northern Italy, and a member of the curia of the Archdiocese of Genoa, has been under house arrest since 2 August after being accused of abusing male teenagers for years. Investigations are continuing into the alleged seduction of at least seven young men aged between 13 and 15. Melis is also being investigated for child prostitution and grievous bodily harm. In a recent search of his home, police found various sexual objects, drugs for sexual stimulation, clothing for boys and notes confirming his years-long relationship with the boy he allegedly abused. The judge in the case considered the priest to be particularly dangerous because he is HIV-positive. Melis pretended "sincere friendship" to obtain kisses, cuddles and worse sexual favours in exchange for electronic cigarettes, prepaid phone cards, expensive clothes, dinners out and video games. Somehow, after writing a rather decent article, he avoids the only sensible conclusion the reader can make; namely that the governors, peoples in power, the police are both individually and collectively enemies of state, that their activities have been an astounding sucess and, most importantly, that they should be forthwith arrested, tried and if or when found guilty, sentenced accordingly for their treasonous actions.
