Orwellian Statement by the New Zealand Prime Minister: "Trust us, we are the single source of truth".
New Zealand Prime Minister Jacinda Ardern recently told reporters that, during the pandemic, her government would continue to be “your single source of truth.” The comment is glaringly dubious, to say the least. What government has been 100 per cent correct, ever? On yesterday's episode of The Ezra Levant Show, Ezra took a look at this shockingly Orwellian claim from Ardern.
Speaking about Ardern's claim that her government was the sole source for truth, and telling individuals to dismiss anything else, Ezra wondered how this statement doesn't fly in the face of science itself: Isn’t science about the clash of ideas — testing a hypothesis, checking it against the facts, and then revising your theories to account for new information?
If Comrade Jacinda doesn’t say it, dismiss it? That’s a bit imperious, that’s a bit incurious. That’s not science, at all, actually — that’s more a religion. Priestess Jacinda tells you not to listen to anyone else. But if she was so sure she was right, why would she be so nervous about other views?

New Zealand Prime Minister Jacinda Ardern has urged New Zealanders to dismiss any information relating to COVID-19 that has not come from her government. “I’ve been watching for some days and this is not unique to New Zealand, that in the midst of what is a global issue, as you would expect, there are a number of rumours that circulate,” Ardern told reporters.
“I am present on social media, I see it myself. I cannot go around and individually dismiss every single rumour I see on social media, as tempted as I might be. “So instead, I want to send a clear message to the New Zealand public: We will share with you the most up to date information daily. You can trust us as a source of that information.”
Ardern continued, “You can also trust the Director-General of Health and the Ministry of Health. For that information, do feel free to visit at any time to clarify any rumour you may hear covid19.govt.nz, otherwise dismiss anything else.
“We will continue to be your single source of truth,” she said.
