Conformist Cardinal Cupich Unmasks Francis' Slogans

Chicago Cardinal Blase Cupich issued a cynical December 27 decree about the Roman Mass which becomes effective effect on January 25.

It "forbids" Mass on every first Sunday of the month, on Christmas, the Easter Triduum, Easter Sunday, and Pentecost Sunday.

Cupich asks Roman Rite priests to teach their faithful to “appreciate" that the Novus Ordo "introduces them to a greater use of Scripture and prayers from the Roman tradition.” In reality, the followers of the NO have no clue about the Bible and only 30% of them believes in Christ's presence in the Eucharist.

Nevertheless, Cupich tells Roman Rite priests to think about the “possibility" of using the failed NO although it is a smorgasbord of liturgical abuses. Graciously, he "allows" these priests to preside the NO Eucharist in Latin but "forbids" them to face God as a “concrete manifestation” of accepting Vatican II which, however, presupposes a celebration facing God.

Further, the Liturgy Congregation decreed (Protocol n. 564/00/L) that bishops are NOT authorized to prohibit celebration of Mass facing God.

The Institute of Christ the King (ICKSP) and the Canons Regulars of St. John Cantius who both use the Roman Liturgy exclusively or partially are present in Chicago.

Cupich's decree confirms once more that Francis’ slogans about “accompaniment,” “building bridges,” “smell of the sheep,” “not building walls,” “diversity,” “mercy,” “all are welcome,” “not being rigid” are shameless lies used to justify sin and to turn the Church into a tool for fighting the Faith.

ICKSP is wholly TLM. And they are in Chicago archdiocese. FSSP has no footprint in ArchChicago. Cantius goes both ways.

Cardinal Cupich allowed Mayor Lori Lightfoot (a non-Catholic) to receive the Most Holy Eucharist….but Chicago Trads are under restrictions…Does that make sense?

A debate about what Vatican II actually said about reforming the liturgy is an interesting academic exercise, but completely useless in today’s Church. The Iconoclasts use VII to give cover to their destruction of the Roman Rite, but they don’t care what it actually says.

Cupasoupich needs to go back into his rabbit hole.

Church Teaching on the Mass:

"Let all everywhere adopt and observe what has been handed down by the Holy Roman Church, the Mother and Teacher of the other churches, and let Masses not be sung or read according to any other formula than that of this Missal published by Us. This ordinance applies henceforth, now, and forever, throughout all the provinces of the Christian world, to all patriarchs, cathedral churches, collegiate and parish churches, be they secular or religious, both of men and of women - even of military orders - and of churches or chapels without a specific congregation in which conventual Masses are sung aloud in choir or read privately in accord with the rites and customs of the Roman Church. This Missal is to be used by all churches, even by those which in their authorization are made exempt, whether by Apostolic indult, custom, or privilege, or even if by oath or official confirmation of the Holy See, or have their rights and faculties guaranteed to them by any other manner whatsoever.
" Encyclical "Quo Primum" (Promulgating the Tridentine Liturgy) by Pope St. Pius V, 1570

"We specifically command each and every patriarch, administrator, and all other persons or whatever ecclesiastical dignity they may be, be they even cardinals of the Holy Roman Church, or possessed of any other rank or pre-eminence, and We order them in virtue of holy obedience to chant or to read the Mass according to the rite and manner and norm herewith laid down by Us and, hereafter, to discontinue and completely discard all other rubrics and rites of other missals, however ancient, which they have customarily followed; and they must not in celebrating Mass presume to introduce any ceremonies or recite any prayers other than those contained in this Missal.
" Encyclical "Quo Primum" (Promulgating the Tridentine Liturgy) by Pope St. Pius V, 1570

"CANON VI.--If any one saith, that the canon of the mass contains errors, and is therefore to be abrogated; let him be anathema."
Council of Trent, On the Sacrifice of the Mass

Church Teaching on the Missal Used at Mass:
"All other of the churches referred to above, however, are hereby denied the use of other missals, which are to be discontinued entirely and absolutely; whereas, by this present Constitution, which will be valid henceforth, now, and forever, We order and enjoin that nothing must be added to Our recently published Missal, nothing omitted from it, nor anything whatsoever be changed within it under the penalty of Our displeasure.
" Encyclical "Quo Primum" (Promulgating the Tridentine Liturgy) by Pope St. Pius V, 1570

"Furthermore, by these presents [this law], in virtue of Our Apostolic authority, We grant and concede in perpetuity that, for the chanting or reading of the Mass in any church whatsoever, this Missal is hereafter to be followed absolutely, without any scruple of conscience or fear of incurring any penalty, judgment, or censure, and may freely and lawfully be used. Nor are superiors, administrators, canons, chaplains, and other secular priests, or religious, of whatever title designated, obliged to celebrate the Mass otherwise than as enjoined by Us. We likewise declare and ordain that no one whosoever is forced or coerced to alter this Missal, and that this present document cannot be revoked or modified, but remain always valid and retain its full force notwithstanding the previous constitutions and decrees of the Holy See, as well as any general or special constitutions or edicts of provincial or synodal councils, and notwithstanding the practice and custom of the aforesaid churches, established by long and immemorial prescription - except, however, if more than two hundred years' standing.

You cannot prohibit the Mass of the Ages. Cupich is in service of Satan.

Here is just another Liturgical Scandal in Chicago from yesterday. At least, the priest is facing the people “to offer a concrete manifestation of the acceptance of the teaching of the Second Vatican Council and its liturgical books”:

He goes even further than the infamous Instruction from the CDW, which in turn went further in key respects than the Vicariate of Rome’s document, which in turn went further than Traditionis Custodes.

Will these people, who have been so happy to follow Francis' lead against the Tridentine Latin Mass with even harsher restrictions than "Traditiones Custodis" calls for be as willing to bring back/restore/allow an even wider acceptance/approval of the Tridentine LAtin Mass when Francis is gone in 4-6 months, and the new Pope cancels "Traditiones Custodis" and calls for/forces acceptance of an even …More

Bishops are NOT authorized to prohibit celebration of Holy Mass ad orientem. Response from Sacred Congregation for Divine Worship, Protocol n. 564/00/L
John A Cassani
Absolutely. They’re just supposed to use coercive tactics to suppress it, not to put it in writing. But, seriously, most of these guys think ad orientem is explicitly prohibited in the Novus ordo. If you polled diocesan “coordinators of divine worship” across the USA, you would find a great deal of ignorance as to the basics of liturgical law. Some of the worst liturgical abuses are in the Archdiocese of Chicago, but these continue unabated.

In Chicago the Novus Ordo in Latin is seen as a temporary half-way house from the TLM to the NO.
Orthocat
That's better than in some places. Even the N.O. in Latin (editio typica) is forbidden. I myself was personally accused of schismatic tendencies when I served as acolyte at a Dominican parish that offered the new Mass in Latin. My accuser said ignorantly; "Vatican II did away with Latin."
Lisi Sterndorfer
Cupich says that the priest must face the people as “concrete manifestation” of accepting the teaching of Vatican II - but VII presupposed celebration ad orientem and said nothing about the direction of the celebrant.
