I think it is treading on thin ice to announce that a person is damned without anything more than Jesus told me. I do not doubt that you are sincere but I have met many sincere Catholics that feel that the Lord told them something and it turns out not to be correct.

About your opening question, I think we can get some answers with a humble reading of sacred scriptures.

Daniel 2:22 He (God) reveals deep and hidden mysteries and knows what lies in the darkness, for light dwells with him.
Tobit 12:7 The secret of a king should be concealed, but the works of God should be publicly proclaimed as they deserve.

If you are receiving visions or audible conversations with Jesus or inner locutions, you may want to submit them to the judgement of the church. I am not an expert but I do not recall any approved visionaries or saints publicly divulging the name of a departed soul condemned to hell and therefore unable to benefit from the prayers of the living. Unless you knew this prelate, any idea of why Jesus would share with you his damnation?

I have to tell you this: there are plenty of examples, assuming that the canonization of the messenger is sufficient for you.

So far, I came across many examples of revealed damnation of ''departed souls''. Here are just a few of them.

-Luther
-Elizabeth I

As well as several Cardinals or bishops (or Apostle), from Judas to Houdon to Jean-Marie Villot (from a recent seer not yet canonized).
