Catholic-Hierarchy.org published charts showing the number of priests and members of the top dozen religious orders since the 1960s.
The Jesuits were the first order of the top dozen to have lost more than half of their members from their high point in 1966 (1966: 36,038; 2011: 17,908 members). They are currently at 14,195 members, down 61% from the all time high. There is no change in the trends since Francis, a Jesuit, became Pope.
Regarding the number of their members, two orders reached that sad milestone in 2016: the Franciscans (now down 55%) and the Oblates of Mary Immaculate (now down 54%); and two in 2022: Redemptorists (down 51%) and Vincentians/Lazarists (down 52%).

Father Ademir Marques OFMcap, was stabbed in the back of the head while working at the Capuchin Day Centre in Dublin on 25 April.
The priest was taken to hospital and discharged the same day after treatment for the superficial wound. He is recovering at home.

The bishops note that many erroneous views of the human person dominate the discourse, leading to Catholics being discriminated against or even losing their jobs.
A new language has been imposed to describe "diverse" [= false] ideas, with words and phrases appearing in public discourse such as 'trans', 'transgender', 'gender identity theory', 'born in the wrong body', 'gender fluidity' or 'gender other than the sex assigned at birth'.

Cardinal Raymond Burke spoke of a "persecution" of the Roman Rite [by Francis] during a men's breakfast in New York City on 23 April.

Archbishop Bruno Forte of Chieti-Vasto, Italy, maintains an order that forces the faithful not to receive Holy Communion, but to grasp it with their fingers.
Forte's secretary said in a 12 April memo that the holy water could be reintroduced in churches: "With regard to the distribution of Communion in our archdiocese, the faithful continue to receive the Eucharist in the hand." Forte has no authority to order this.

The phenomenon was called 'Our Lady of the Mediatrix of All Graces' (below). Maria allegedly appeared to a 21-year-old Carmelite postulant named Sister Teresita Castillo (pictured) in Lipa City for 15 days beginning on 12 September 1948.
In a statement accompanying the publication of the decree, Tucho Fernández added that in 1951 the superior of the Lipa convent "confessed to having deceived the faithful about the alleged apparitions" and apologised.

Until last year, Cardinal John Njue, the retired archbishop of Nairobi, Kenya, was known to have been born in 1944.
Since the day and month of his birth are not known, he would have lost his right to participate in a conclave on 31 December 2024.
But in Francis' Church things change. According to the latest papal yearbook (Annuario Pontificio), Nuje's new birth year is 1946. No reason has been given for this mysterious change.
Another prelate who had his year of birth changed, but not in his favour, was Cardinal Henryk Gulbinowicz (+2020), the Archbishop of Breslau. Until February 2005 his birth year was 1928.

The mother house of the Carthusians is La Grande Chartreuse near Grenoble in France. In 1605, the monks of La Grande Chartreuse received a mysterious parchment containing the recipe for what would become the Grande Chartreuse liqueur, based on 130 plants.
In the 18th century, Chartreuse verte and Chartreuse jaune were produced for the first time. The Chartreuse liqueurs quickly became a great success. Chartreuse jaune became known as the "queen of liqueurs". Another famous product is Élixir Végétal.

Iranian-born British artist Reza Aramesh, who has a penchant for very realistic artefacts and naked men, presents 207 men's underpants in the church of San Fantin in Venice.
The exhibition, in collaboration with the decadent Venice Patriarchate, is called 'Number 207' and runs from 16 April to 2 October.
The underpants are made from Carrara marble and arranged on the floor of San Fantin, a 12th-century church that houses a miraculous Byzantine Marian icon and has a crypt, rare in Venice.
San Fantin is one of more than 30 churches in the city that are not used for worship. The parish of San Fantin was already abolished by Napoleon, who made it an auxiliary church of the neighbouring parish.

Jean-Pierre Maugendre, director of "Renaissance Catholique", a Catholic association in France, published an appeal on 22 April asking Francis to "allow" the Roman Mass, as if Francis had inadvertently "banned" it in 2021.

Petra Vanoni, a judge at the criminal court in Bellinzona, Switzerland, has acquitted German-born Manfred Hauke, a priest and internationally renowned theologian, of trumped-up charges of "discrimination" and "incitement to hatred".
The priest was being persecuted by homosexual activists from an organisation called "Pink Cross".
The trial centred on a scientific essay on homosexual sins and pedophile priests by Professor Dariusz Oko, a Polish priest and professor. His text was published in January 2021 in the theological journal "Theologisches", of which Hauke is the editor. Judge Petra Vanoni couldn't find in the scientific article any "ideology that discriminates against homosexuals".

Auxiliary Bishop Ludger Schepers of Essen, Germany, has named 13 women from all over Germany as "Deaconesses in the Spirit".
He did this during a ceremony on 13 April in the church of the Franciscan Sisters of Waldbreitbach. The event included a 'blessing' and the presentation of a 'Deaconess in the Spirit' certificate (sic).
The event marked the end of three and a half years of formation in the "Women's Diaconate Network".
In his homily, Monsignor Schepers claimed that women "are also called to the diaconate" [by whom?].
According to Schepers' imbalanced theological understanding, it is an "imbalance" and a "grievance" that the sacrament of Holy Orders is reserved [by Christ] only for men.
