Ursula von der Leyen celebrated Budapest Pride on X, writing: "The streets of Budapest are filled with joy and pride... I am so glad that the LGBTIQ+ community in Hungary can finally march without fear." One user pushed back, replying: "There was no fear even under Orbán. What are you talking about? They were safer here in Hungary than in your country. I'm tired of your nonsense about Orbán's Hungary. He was right about almost everything."

Just 24-hours before the SSPX plans to consecrate four new bishops, the Pope sent his much awaited final appeal to the Society, seeking to call off the ceremony even at such late notice. It was two weeks ago to the day that Leo commented he intended to make such an appeal, and ever since then Vatican observers have been waiting to see what form it would take.

Leo urges SSPX against consecrations: Praises their love of Tradition and promises 'dialogue'
The Pope's letter comes as his first personal appeal to the SSPX, as they prepare to consecrate four bishops on July 1 without having been granted the papal mandate.
VATICAN CITY (
PerMariam) — Pope Leo XIV has sent a personal appeal to the Society of St. Pius X, urging them to halt the planned July 1 episcopal consecrations as it would be a “sin of extreme gravity.”

Why I am joining the Catholic Herald

A little before Christmas, I was very grateful to be asked by the Catholic Herald to pen the new Vatican Dispatch, giving readers a twice-weekly update from Rome and a summary of the chief Vatican stories of the week.
As an Irish-English journalist specialising in the Vatican for the last six years, my work has mainly been published in American Catholic outlets, and so the Catholic Herald’s Vatican Dispatch marked a rare treat for me, enabling me to write such columns while engaging with audiences both abroad and now at home.
The Catholic Church has so much vigour in North America, and this naturally spills over into the wide variety of Catholic media outlets based in that great nation. As a journalist writing for such an audience, it has been rewarding to witness that fervour in the Faith and the fruits it can lead to. Yet I always clung to my desire somehow to contribute to the development of the Faith closer to home: to partake in a Catholic revival back in the UK. “Mary’s Dowry …

Leo XIV Writes to FSSPX

Yesterday, Leo XIV wrote to the Priestly Fraternity of St. Pius X. He acknowledged the FSSPX's devotion to Tradition, the liturgy, and priestly formation. He begs them to "turn back" from a prospective "schismatic act", warning of its grave consequences while reaffirming the Church's openness to dialogue and reconciliation. The letter.
To the Reverend Father Davide Pagliarani
Superior General
of the Priestly Fraternity of Saint Pius X

With a paternal heart, and aware of the responsibility entrusted to me by the Lord as the Successor of the Apostle Peter, I address you and, through you, the bishops, priests, seminarians and faithful connected to the Priestly Fraternity of Saint Pius X.
The Church recognizes the devotion to liturgical life, commitment to priestly formation, apostolic zeal and desire for fidelity to Tradition that characterize many people and communities connected to your Fraternity. This has motivated the attentive and generous attitude that my Predecessors have consistently …More

This is political strategy. It has nothing to do with being a "Shepherd." Enough dialogue. We've been dialoguing for 60 years. "By their fruits you will know them." Who would have guessed Our Lord was prophesying with a double entendre.

Prevost tore the union with Christ by persisting in Bergoglios errors, by promoting sodomy, universalism, masonry, paganism, by bowing down to the idols...and now HE pretends to beg for union. Gaslighting at the highest level! But guess what? It works, especially on poor seduced bishops and cardinals! God help them!

BREAKING: Pope Leo begs SSPX not to consecrate bishops: 'Turn back!' - LifeSite

Tue Jun 30, 2026 - 5:16 am EDT
VATICAN CITY (
LifeSiteNews) — Pope Leo has made a public appeal to the head of the traditionalist Society of Saint Pius X (SSPX) not to carry out the episcopal consecrations planned for tomorrow, July 1.
This morning, June 30, Pope Leo released a letter to Father Davide Pagliarani, the current head of the SSPX, his bishops, priests and seminarians, as well as the lay faithful “connected” to the Society, warning that the consecrations would be a “schismatic act.” [Full letter printed below.]
“I plead with you and ask you with all my heart: please turn back!” the Pontiff wrote.
“I urge you to consider carefully the spiritual good of the faithful, because the schismatic act you are about to undertake would deprive them of the licit and, in some cases, even valid reception of the Sacraments, which they love and seek for their sanctification.”

"Roman Mass? It's Not an Attack on Unity" - Cardinal

The Roman rite is "not an attack on the unity of the Church," Cardinal François-Xavier Bustillo, 57, of Ajaccio, France, told Italian daily Il Giornale on June 29.
"The Church also has the Eastern rites, and even in the West we have many rites: I am thinking of the Ambrosian Rite, the Mozarabic Rite, or the Spanish Rite," the Spanish-born cardinal added. In his view, the difficulty arises only when "the search for greater radicality turns into rigidity".
However, Cardinal Bustillo opposes the reversion of Traditionis Custodes. It would be "dangerous," he said, "to send the message that Francis was wrong and that Leo XIV is here to solve the problem."
He believes Leo XIV "will give a response that is fair and well-calibrated."
On the episcopal consecrations by the Priestly Fraternity of St. Pius X, he spoke of "a painful rupture for the Church." He lamented that any new break would come little more than a year into a pontificate centered on the words [!] "peace" and "unity."

All around, people looking half-dead,
Walking on the sidewalk, hotter than a match head.
This is a quote of the well-known 1966 song Summer in the City, performed by The Lovin’ Spoonful.
Yesterday—on the hottest day of the year in Poland—my sister, who lives in Turin in northern Italy, sent me the following photo. In this regard, Italy can’t impress us: Poland, a distant country in the non-tropical part of Europe, is experiencing comparable temperatures.
41.1°C is approximately 105.98°F.
At this point, the fanatics of global warming will exclaim: “This is, after all, the best proof of global warming—a phenomenon invented by global forces!” According to this logic—which reveals a lack of sound reasoning—an ice age has arrived in Saudi Arabia. These are mere speculations with no basis in the real world.
