St. Marguerite d'Youville - October 16 Religious (1701-1771) MARGUERITE d'YOUVILLE is the first native Canadian saint to be canonized. She was born on October 15, 1701, in Varennes, Quebec. She was the eldest child of Christophe Dufrost de Lajemmerais and Marie-Renée Gaultier. She was 7 years old when her father passed away and her great grandfather, Pierre Boucher, took care of her upbringing. After studying for two years with the Ursulines in Quebec, she became an invaluable support to her mother and helped educate her brothers and sisters. Marguerite married François d'Youville in 1722 and moved to his mother's house. She soon realized that her husband was uninterested in family life. His frequent absences and illegal liquor trading with the Indians caused her great suffering. She was pregnant with their sixth child when he became seriously ill. She faithfully cared for him until his death in 1730. By the age of 29, she had suffered poverty, the loss of her father and husband, and …More

At Leo XIV’s meeting on Amoris Laetitia, there was no longer any talk of “irregular” relationships, the married Münster theologian Christian Bauer, who attended the meeting as an “expert”, told katholisch.de on October 16. The document’s methodological paradigm shift is no longer being questioned: “One must proceed synodally from concrete experiences, rather than hierarchically from abstract principles.” At the same time, Bauer invokes the “principle of gradualness”: “The grace of Christ operates not only in sacramental marriages but also, in a mysterious way, already in ‘imperfect’ forms of life.” Pastoral conversion “must encompass the entire existence of the Church, including its Magisterium”, he said. Bauer expressed surprise at the absence of critics among the handpicked participants (“extreme voices, such as the infamous “Dubia” issued by some extremely conservative cardinals”). #newsXasmydgtvz
For Prevost, a paradigm shift means pulverizing the 6th commandment and encouraging concubines in mortal sin. Abstract principles are really the 10 commandments. In this context, repentance means accepting the sin against the 6th commandment.

ICE Called Him a Wanted Man. His Family Said He Had Been Dead Nine Years. nytimes.com/2026/10/15/us/ice-pursuit-houston-dea… ICE agents rammed a man during a pursuit in Houston, leaving him with a shattered leg. But a bulletin of the target shows a man who died in 2017, his daughter said.By Jazmine Ulloa Oct. 15, 2026 When immigration agents struck a man with an S.U.V. in Houston over the weekend, they said they were chasing an undocumented Mexican man facing deportation and multiple criminal charges. But the photo they shared of their target was of a man whose family says he died almost a decade ago. In a statement on Saturday, Immigration and Customs Enforcement said that agents conducting a surveillance operation had seen their target, Jose Mendoza-Cervantes, climb into a vehicle driven by Miguel Parra Hernandez. When they tried to pull over the vehicle, Mr. Parra Hernandez, a 48-year-old construction worker, and a second man fled on foot. Surveillance footage captured an agent …More
Catholic priest defends polygamy in Africa, criticizes ‘Western family model’: Fr. Égide Muziazia of Germany’s University of Münster calls polygamy a ‘social institution,’ while the Catechism of the Catholic Church says it ‘directly negates the plan of God.’
Introduction of monogamy in Africa was an “injustice.” German bishops’ website highlights defense of polygamy. Katholisch.de, the German bishops’ news portal, yesterday promoted the favorable views on polygamy of Father Égide Muziazia from Münster. Originally from the Democratic Republic of the Congo, Muziazia has lived in Germany since 2006 and was ordained in 2011. “Polygamy in Africa is neither merely a moral failing nor a sign of moral backwardness. Rather, it is a social institution embedded in a comprehensive network of kinship, alliance-building, and the transmission of life,” he said. The encounter with Christian missionaries led to a “head-on cultural clash,” according to Muziazia. “Monogamy was demanded as a prerequisite for baptism. The monogamous marriage thus became the hallmark of the exemplary Christian—with the result that the ‘surplus’ wives were often cast aside - an injustice committed in the name of the Gospel.” The priest praises the Vatican Synod Secretariat’s …More
16.10.2026 GENERAL AGREEMENT IN CHURCH DOCTRINE IN BOSTON AND NEW HAMPSHIRE FR. GEORGES DE LAIRE AND THE JUDGE IN THE MICHAEL VORIS CASE STILL INTERPRET VATICAN COUNCIL II UNETHICALLY IN NEW HAMPSHIRE - 5 Bishop Peter Libasci, Fr. Georges de Laire, Michael Voris, Brother Andre Marie micm, the CMRI in NH- everyone agrees that LG 8, 14, 16, etc refer to hypothetical cases and so are not practical exceptions for the dogma extra ecclesiam nulla salus of the Council of Florence 1442 as held by the St. Benedict Center in NH. They also agree that Vatican Council II can be interpreted with LG 14 and LG 16 referring to invisible cases in 2026. So the baptism of desire and being saved are always invisible cases and examples of known cases of non Catholics saved outside the Catholic Church in the present times. So Vatican Council II is ecclesiocentric with Ad Gentes 7 ( all need faith and baptism for salvation) and is aligned with the dogma extra ecclesiam nulla salus as held by the Slaves of the …More
The Napa Institute, a prominent conservative Catholic organization supported by donors committed to traditional Catholic teachings, invited Fr. James Martin to carry the monstrance during a Eucharistic procession. A well-known conservative Catholic journalist also interviewed him, providing an opportunity to discuss his views on LGBT issues with a conservative audience.
"Conservative" institutions are supporting the homosexual activist James Martin SJ. Two Catholic groups - the substack.com account 'The Pillar' and the Napa Institute - have given public prominence to pro-homosexual James Martin. On 12 October, JD Flynn of 'The Pillar' published a 96-minute interview with Martin. He claimed that practising homosexuals (who "do whatever") are "treated like dirt" when they are told not to receive Holy Communion. Martin accused priests and other Catholics of mistreating homosexuals, whom he portrayed as victims of even physical violence. Flynn did not challenge these unsubstantiated allegations. The following day, Martin took part in the Napa Institute's annual Eucharistic procession through Midtown Manhattan, starting at St. Patrick's Cathedral. Founded in 2010 by businessman Timothy Busch and Jesuit Father Robert Spitzer, the California-based Napa Institute attracts conservative Catholic bishops and wealthy donors. Its flagship event, the annual Summer …More

Leo XIV-appointed bishop wants women to preach at Mass. Bishop Beat Grögli of St. Gallen, Switzerland, has defended the practice of women delivering homilies at Mass, although canon law defines the homily as an inherent part of the liturgy. Kath.ch reported on October 8 that Bishop Grögli told a group of women that this prohibited practice had existed in his diocese for nearly 50 years. He suggested that reversing the practice would be incomprehensible. Grögli described the theological arguments against women preaching as “weak,” adding: “Honestly, I have never understood them.” He considers “the female perspective in preaching an enrichment.” Asked whether his position constituted disobedience, he pointed to ongoing discussions with Rome. Canon 767 §1 reserves the homily at Mass to priests and deacons. The Vatican's 2004 instruction Redemptionis Sacramentum states that lay homilies at Mass cannot acquire legitimacy through longstanding custom. Pope Leo XIV appointed Grögli Bishop of …More

St. Teresa of Avila: “Let nothing disturb you. Let nothing frighten you. All things are passing. God alone does not change. Patience obtains all things. Whoever has God lacks nothing. God alone suffices.”
“Depending on all these factors, the pope will also adjust his pontificate, if it needs to be adjusted,” Cardinal Pietro Parolin told reporters in Rome, hours after visiting the 71-year-old pontiff at Gemelli Hospital. Parolin said the Nov. 6 to 17 journey to Uruguay, Argentina and Peru “will depend on the doctors.” The Vatican has not said what stage the cancer is in, or whether the lymph nodes removed during Tuesday’s operation were clear.

Today, Leo XIV has appointed Monsignor Paolo Andreolli, until now auxiliary bishop of Belém, as the new Bishop of Ponta de Pedras, Brazil. Born in Italy in 1972, Andreolli is a Xaverian missionary who has worked in Brazil's Amazon region since 2007. He was consecrated auxiliary bishop of Belém on April 15, 2023. Footage of that consecration shows a ceremonial pagan gesture toward the end of the liturgy inside the cathedral. A man raises and shakes a ritual tool, a maracá-like rattle, over the newly consecrated bishop, performing an Indigenous-style ritual blessing. A globe representing the Earth is also presented. Earlier statements: In 2017, Bishop Andreolli referred to the Earth as “Mother Earth”. In another 2017 article, he praised the ultra-progressive bishops Erwin Kräutler and Pedro Casaldáliga as prophetic examples of commitment to human liberation. Andreolli served as a local organizer of the initiative ‘Church Towards COP30’, mobilizing Church organizations ahead of the UN …More
