Sydney Archbishop Anthony Fisher noted the producers of a homosexual performance staged inside a former Catholic church on Kent Street deliberately mocked the Catholic faith. Writing in CatholicWeekly.com.au on July 28, a week after hundreds of Catholics gathered outside the venue to pray the Rosary, Archbishop Fisher rejected claims that the show was simply artistic expression. Nigerian police are investigating the killing of Rev. Fr. Samuel Opeyemi Oyetoro, a Catholic priest of the Diocese of Lokoja. His body was found with multiple machete wounds to his head along a roadside in Ajaokuta, Kogi State, on July 29. According to Kogi State Police, officers responded to reports of a lifeless body and later identified the victim as Fr. Oyetoro. AUGUST 2026 - Pope Leo reminds all catholics and non-catholics the teachings and stand of the Catholic Church in regards to same sex and irregular unities (people divorced but married by the church and married again by civil law) and clearly states that the Catholic Church will always follow the teachings of our Lord Jesus which does not allow the sin of sodomy, fornication or adultery. Not said this way but he is very clear that this is simply not catholic teachings and indirectly mentions that Pope Francis made mistakes and said things that should not be misinterpreted to justify sin.
