Leo XIV to Address the Roman Rite in January Consistory - Italian Newspaper

The Mass of the Roman rite is a central topic at the first meeting of cardinals under Pope Leo XIV on January 7-8, reports IlGiornale.it on Tuesday.
A “Christmas letter” from Leo XIV, setting out the agenda, is to be sent to all cardinals this week.
Furthermore, the consistory with more than 200 Cardinals will address the issue of synodality.
The cardinals have also been asked to prepare by rereading Francis’ texts "Evangelii gaudium" and "Praedicate evangelium".
Leo XIV had the invitation to his first consistory sent out on November 7 by the Dean of the College of Cardinals, Giovanni Battista Re. The specific topics were initially not disclosed.

Kaja Kallas' shocking lack of historical literacy

The EU’s foreign policy chief, Kaja Kallas, has consistently demonstrated a reductive and simplistic approach to geopolitics that betrays a serious lack of strategic depth and historical knowledge for such a critical role. Her failure is symptomatic of a broader decline of European statecraft.
Reacting to the recent summit of the Shanghai Cooperation Organization (SCO) and the military parade in Beijing dedicated to the victory over fascism in World War II, attended by dozens of leaders, including Russian President Vladimir Putin, Kallas expressed that it was "news" to her that
Chinaand
Russiawere among the victors who defeated Nazism and fascism
This is not a minor gaffe; it is a shocking lack of historical literacy. The Soviet Union (whose primary successor state is Russia) suffered over 20 million casualties in the Great Patriotic War, a sacrifice that, in alliance with the United States and Britain, fundamentally broke the back of the Nazi war machine. China, for its part, endured …

The 46 stars on the Virgin of Guadalupe's mantle prove that Bergoglio and Prevost are not legitimate Popes

These 46 stars on the tilma represent the 46 popes since the apparition of Our Lady of Guadalupe in 1531. They also correlate with the prophecies of Garabandal, which indicate that the End Times began after Benedict XVI.

The Catholic Church in Japan, in collaboration with European religious groups, is set to establish a new pilgrimage route in southern Japan to honor the first Christian missionaries and the “hidden Christians” who preserved their faith despite centuries of persecution.
The planned route, called “The Way of the Gospel,” will serve as a spiritual journey similar to Spain’s famed Camino de Santiago, Vatican news agency Fides reported on Nov. 8.
The Camino de Santiago (Way of St. James) is a 311-kilometer pilgrimage leading to the shrine of the apostle James in Santiago de Compostela, Spain.
The idea emerged after a Spanish Catholic delegation from the Archdiocese of Lucca visited Japan in September.
The project is being developed with the Perugian Confraternity of Santiago de Compostela, together with the Japanese prefectures of Kagoshima, Kumamoto, and Nagasaki, their municipalities, and the dioceses of Kagoshima, Nagasaki, and Fukuoka. The confraternity promotes the pilgrimages to …

Chile Has Elected a Catholic President: José Antonio Kast Rist won Chile’s presidential runoff on 14 December, defeating Communist candidate Jeannette Jara. A lawyer and leader of the Republican Party, Kast campaigned on security and economic issues while strongly defending pro-life, pro-family, and religious values. Born in Santiago in 1966 to a deeply Catholic family of German descent, Kast is married with nine children and is a member of the Schönstatt Movement. He will take office as president on 11 March 2026. During the presidential campaign, Kast publicly reaffirmed his convictions: “We are going to talk about God again, about our country, and about family. These are the values that have sustained our country's strength, and we must not be afraid of what others may say”, he said.

EU Accused of Silencing Critics of Its Ukraine Narrative – Allah's Willing Executioners

Diana Panchenko
@BowesChay on X, 8 August 2025
One of the latest sanctions imposed by the European Council has sparked a controversy, with critics saying the Brussels establishment is taking action simply to protect its—and Kyiv’s—narrative.
The body
says it has imposed measures against Ukrainian journalist Diana Panchenko because she is “responsible for, implementing or supporting actions or policies attributable to” the Russian government “which undermine or threaten stability or security in” Ukraine “by engaging in the use of information manipulation and interference.”
But former U.S. National Security Advisor Mike Flynn argued that it has actually done so because her voice “threatens their narrative,” praising Panchenko for “courageously exposing corruption and pleading for peace.”
In a strongly-worded post, Flynn described the council’s sanction as “tyranny in its purest form,” adding:
Globalists can sanction all they want. They will NEVER silence the truth.
This is a …

The concept of “Holy Russia,” as noted, is still alive, though it is often conflated with Rússkiy mir (“Russian World”), a pernicious political doctrine that promotes Russia’s influence and control over all peoples and lands it believes—rightly or wrongly—belong to Russia’s historic patrimony.

The Myth of Holy Russia

Some Sobering Numbers
Before delving into the larger cultural questions surrounding the Russian Orthodox Church, it is helpful to take a brief look at some numbers. Though precise numbers are difficult to come by, the Russian Orthodox Church boasts of having 110 million members worldwide, with 95 million located within Russia. These numbers include various autonomous and self-governing local churches in Estonia, Latvia, Moldova, Ukraine, China, and Japan. The Russian Orthodox Church Outside of Russia (ROCOR), which is headquartered in New York, is also counted in these numbers, though it remains administratively distinct from the Russian Orthodox Church proper. All of these bodies are, to greater or less extent, under the omophorion (authority) of the Patriarch of Moscow, currently held by Kirill (Gundyayev).
Depending on which sources are believed, the “95 million” number may be more imaginative than real. According to the Russian-based Public Opinion Foundation, in 2024, 62% of Russian …

There appears to be a giant rift in today's Orthodox World.
Those who support the Gay agenda, and those who see it as Sin.
The Greek Orthodox are firmly allied with Rome in the acceptance and promotion of this unholy agenda.
The Moscow, Romanian, Jerusalem Orthodoxies see this Homosexual agenda as Flat out Sin.
Yes, the Russians are Communist, and that is a major stumbling block.
However, they along with others will not capitulate to the promotion of heresy.

Jubilee of Prisoners, #PopeLeoXIV: May forms of amnesty or pardon be granted
During the Mass presided over in St. Peter's Basilica, Leo XIV reiterated the desire expressed by Francis in "Spes non confundit," the papal bull announcing the Holy Year.
He hopes that everyone will be offered real opportunities for social reintegration, while being aware of the critical issues of the prison system: "No human being is the same as what he has done. Justice is always a process of reparation."

Pope Leo XIV is facing a lawsuit at the European Court of Human Rights concerning the Vatican's decision to suspend pension payments to two former IOR managers, Paolo Cipriani and Massimo Tulli. Although both were convicted by Vatican courts for mismanagement, earlier Vatican rulings had ordered that their pensions be reinstated at a reduced rate. However, in April 2025, the Vatican Court of Cassation overturned these decisions, ruling that pensions are not an acquired right. Cipriani and Tulli are now appealing to the ECHR, claiming that this violates Vatican pension regulations and the European Convention on Human Rights.

Among the various legal troubles inherited with the previous pontificate, Pope Leo XIV now faces a lawsuit at the European Court of Human Rights because the Vatican allegedly did not respect a fundamental right of a retiree: the inalienability of the pension accrued by the worker. The lawsuit was filed by two former managers of the IOR, Paolo Cipriani and Massimo Tulli, both convicted by the Vatican court for mismanagement. The Vatican bank, which should have paid them the pension allowance, albeit reduced by a third due to the conviction, as happens in all national systems, for example, even in Italy, stopped doing so overnight. Naturally, Cipriani and Tulli initially appealed to the Vatican courts, which have often not shone for transparency, suing the Pope's bank and winning both in the first and second instances with two favorable rulings that sided with the two former employees. In those favorable rulings, it was highlighted that a key principle from the Italian system was being …More
