"They expand on this in the body of the article by saying: “The COVID-19 pandemic has posed an unprecedented global health crisis, with more than 770 million confirmed cases and over 6.9 million confirmed deaths being reported globally to WHO from 1 January 2020 to 1 September 2023.”
While we certainly do not begrudge the WHO for deciding to keep tabs on a disease that potentially claimed 6.9 million lives over the space of 44 months, we take exception to calling it an “unprecedented global health crisis.” The word unprecedented means “never having happened or existed in the past” [2]. We are at a complete loss to see how Covid was a global health crisis, let alone an unprecedented one [3]. To be thorough, we demonstrate that there was nothing unprecedented about Covid by pointing out a few things that happen during every normal 44 month period:
89 billion cases of respiratory infections [4]
2.5 billion people are infected with the norovirus [5]
264 million people die of old age […More

Why early Christians prayed the Our Father three times a day
on 05/03/24
In the very early Church, Christians would pray the Our Father as the Angelus is prayed currently by many Catholics.
It shouldn’t come as a surprise that one of the primary prayers of the early Church was the Our Father.
It was the prayer that Jesus taught them and so they held it in high regard and didn’t want to forget it.
According to the Catechism of the Catholic Church, early Christians prayed the Our Father three times a day:
This indivisible gift of the Lord’s words and of the Holy Spirit who gives life to them in the hearts of believers has been received and lived by the Church from the beginning. The first communities prayed the Lord’s Prayer three times a day, in place of the “Eighteen Benedictions” customary in Jewish piety.
CCC 2767 In this paragraph the Catechism cites the Didache, which is an ancient text that many scholars date to the 1st century. It is one of the earliest texts the Church has …More

A friend of LepantoIn.org contacted the Archdiocese of Chicago regarding a blasphemous [pseudo] "blessing" of two lesbians at St Vincent de Paul Parish in Lincoln Park, Chicago.
The email criticised a 'public perversion' and was addressed to the archdiocese's Office of Canonical Affairs: 'This is nothing short of a public disgrace and the order of justice demands a firm response not only from your office but from the office of Cardinal Cupich,' the author of the email wrote.
The original complaint didn't mention the date of the incident. The response came from Rev. Daniel Andree, the Judical Vicar. He wrote that the email was "the first notice we have received of anything that took place on 22 April".
Dutifully, Rev. Andree reported that "I have noted the sources and have begun the process for an appropriate response", and thanked "for informing us, which is often the only way we learn what is happening 'on the street'" - as if diocesan officials don't spend most of their time surfing …More
