Thousands of Americans and hundreds of Utahns switch to the world’s largest Christian faith every year
Becoming Catholic: I went from an ‘emphasis on …

Samuel Smith never dreamed he would step foot into a Catholic church on Easter Sunday and be baptized.
Born into a Latter-day Saint family, he spent years in the Mormon pipeline — serving a mission, getting married, attempting a picture-perfect life.
But as a divorce ensued and faith questions arose, Smith began searching for answers across various Christian traditions. This spring, after months of study, he finally stood before a congregation at Bountiful’s St. Olaf Catholic Church and officially became Catholic.
“Having grown up Mormon, there was a lot of an emphasis on obedience,” he said. “Within Catholicism, it ends up being more about … getting into a state of grace.”
At last, Smith said, he found the balm that soothed his inner turmoil.
Plenty of others have discovered that peace as well. The 39-year-old Bountiful resident is one of thousands of Catholic converts in the United States this year.

Chinese Underground Church Consecrated 10 Bishops without Papal Mandate

After the 2018 Sino-Vatican agreement “terrible things happen to Catholics” in the Fujian province, an anonymous Chinese bishop who is unaffiliated with the Chinese state church ‘Patriotic Association’, told Anthony Clark for CatholicWorldReport.com on August 23.
The bishop speaks of a “state of emergency”.
As government influence over the bishops increases, “the integrity of the Catholic faith will suffer.” To “assure the survival of China’s Church,” new bishops have been “secretly consecrated.”
The bishop says the faithful question Rome’s genuine concern for their “spiritual well-being” when the Holy See approves government-selected bishops whom they regard as too reliable to the state.
The number is unknown, but he suggested that “at least ten new bishops” were consecrated for the underground community in the Fujian province.

- James Checchio (New Orleans): he supported homosexual propaganda as bishop of Metuchen, New Jersey.
- Ramón Bejarano (Monterey, California): he presided over homosexual Eucharists as auxiliary bishop in San Diego, including transvestites in the liturgy.
- Christian Würtz (Eichstätt, Germany): he supported “blessings” for homosexuals and changes to biblical teaching on homosexuality.
- Thomas Hennen (Baker, Oregon): he drafted pro-homosexual “pastoral” guidelines.

Pope Leo XIV’s LGBTQ-Friendly Appointments Include Bishop Invited Drag Queen to Mass

The first American Pope has made room for progressive LGBTQ+ voices in several recent high-profile appointments, per an analysis in the popular Substack Letters from Leo, written by former Obama staffer Christopher Hale. In February, Pope Leo XIV officially appointed Bishop James Checchio as leader of the Archdiocese of New Orleans, per a blogpost from New Ways Ministry, a Catholic outreach organization that “educates and advocates for equity, inclusion, and justice for LGBTQ+ persons.” Checchio had been in line to take over the role informally since September 2025, per EWTN News. Checchio, who had previously led the Metuchen Diocese in New Jersey, made LGBTQ+ outreach a priority with at least two of the 75 parishes under his jurisdiction known to be explicitly LGBTQ+-friendly, according to New Ways Ministry: Sacred Heart Parish in South Plainfield and St. Joseph Parish in Hillsborough. Not only did Checcio support a group for LGBTQ+ Catholics in his diocese, he attended their 2016 …

"Where Are You Going, USA?": Archbishop Fulton Sheen’s Prophetic Warning & Blueprint
"If souls are saved, everything is saved. Unless souls are saved, nothing is saved." Fulton Sheen expert Dr. Peter Howard joins CatholicTV to share the prophetic blueprint Archbishop Fulton Sheen left for renewing the faith in the USA. Why is Archbishop Fulton J. Sheen more relevant today than ever before? Dr. Peter Howard steps into the living room on This Is the Day to discuss Sheen’s road to beatification and preview the national conference, "America’s Saint: The Catholic Hour is Now" in St. Louis, MO. Dr. Howard explains why Sheen was far more than a 1950s television celebrity reaching 30 million viewers weekly with Life is Worth Living—he was a holy soul whose power to convert hearts came directly from his unbroken promise to make a daily Holy Hour before the Blessed Sacrament every day of his priesthood. As the nation marks its 250th anniversary, Dr. Howard reflects on Sheen's final prophetic …More

🇪🇸 #Spain. A huge arsenal of weapons have been confiscated from migrants in Ceuta, including hammers, swords, iron bars, and knives.
These migrants look like they are armed for a Medieval battlefield. Among the weapons are pickaxes, knives, axes, and various tools. It is not clear whether the migrants brought these items from Morocco or obtained them in Spanish territory.

Rev. Michael Pfleger Cleared of Latest Abuse Allegation

Rev. Michael Pfleger, 77, was reinstated effective August 24 after the Archdiocese of Chicago's Independent Review Board completed its investigation. He is known nationally for his progressive activism.
Cardinal Blase Cupich, 77, said the board, assisted by the Office of Child Protection and outside investigators, concluded there was “no reason to believe” Pfleger was guilty of the allegation. Cupich accepted the recommendation and returned him to ministry at St. Sabina.
According to the Chicago Sun-Times reporting, a woman alleged that Pfleger sexually abused her when she was a girl attending St. Sabina's school sometime between 1993 and 1995. The allegation surfaced this July, and Pfleger was removed from ministry on July 11 while it was investigated.
Rev. Pfleger denied it emphatically from the outset, calling it an “absolute lie.”
Under archdiocesan policy, the allegation was reported to police, and the accuser was offered assistance through the church's Victim Assistance Ministry. …More

Communities in multiple states could face federally mandated water cuts because the Colorado River is so low. It would affect Arizona, Colorado and New Mexico Prices for groceries will increase due to this, “Nearly half of the country's vegetables and most fruits and nuts come from California, and they rely on water from the Colorado River. So food prices could go up if they don't sort this out” Lake Mead and Lake Powell are the 2 largest reservoirs in the US and have fallen to their lowest combined storage levels on record: - Lake Powell is around 23% full - Lake Mead is around 27% full Agriculture already uses as much as 80% of the water from the Colorado river
