"...there are 34 million pilgrims who will arrive during the Jubilee, Cardinal Gambetti told us based on the statistics that in the Jubilee of 1950, think about it, there were half a million pilgrims, so we will go from half a million pilgrims in 1950 to over 34 million..."
Perhaps Cardinal Mauro Gambetti and Father Enzo Fortunato are missing something, first of all that between 1950 and today there have been other Jubilees, that of 1975, 1983, 2000 and 2015... maybe even report those data... and then make a comparison between the Jubilee of 1950 and the one now upon us is a bit exaggerated, in 1950 we had just emerged from the Second World War, the global economic situation was different and even the possibility of moving and traveling is not what it is today... if we wanted, we could make a comparison with the Jubilee of 1925 or earlier, the difference would have been even more substantial...if this is what it takes to look good in someone's eyes...

@John A Cassani I agree about your comments concerning the state of the world. A relative of mine is trying to get me to go with him on a European trip. He even said I could choose the country. First I thought UK, but looking at the riots there recently - no. France, no way. Germany - same thing, too many immigrants from non-European cultures. Maybe Hungary??? I've been to Rome, but when Benedict XVI was Pope. I have no desire to go under current 'management'.

Archbishop Tomasz Peta and his Auxiliary Bishop Athanasius Schneider of the Archdiocese of Astana, Kazakhstan, make reparation for the blasphemy at the opening ceremony of the Paris Olympic Games.
After Mass on 11 August, all parishes of the Archdiocese expose the Blessed Sacrament and read the prayer Iesu dulcissime. The following letter is read in all parishes on August 4 and 11:
To all parishes of the Archdiocese
Praised be Jesus Christ!
Dear Brothers and Sisters!
As you know, the opening ceremony of the Olympics in Paris on July 26th of this year contained blasphemous elements that offend God, especially a parody of the “Last Supper,” which is the center of the entire life of the Church.
Christians, as well as representatives of other religions and people of goodwill around the world, are protesting against this.
We Catholics in Kazakhstan also want to offer God a prayer of reparation for the sin of blasphemy. Therefore, on Sunday, August 11th of this year, throughout our entire …More

Well I'm pleased to hear that. But it won't be enough to save France. There are plenty of approved mystics and seers from the distant past who have prophesied the downfall of France. This is just the provocation. God will not be mocked. France, one way or another, will pay for this crime against the Almighty.

In the US, “ranked choice voting” has gained some traction, and it has not been good. I think Alaska uses it, and their RINO senator was re-elected recently because of it. We have a two party system because the President must be elected by a majority of electoral votes, or else the election is thrown to the House of Representatives for one vote per state.

The question remains
Am I still able to love?
Can I fill myself with faith that gives hope?
Lord, please take away the suffering from those closest to me!
Give me the crosses I deserve
Surely later I will cry at your feet for mercy
I at least know why, and they don’t want to listen to me rejected
They would rather suffer than believe To look and not see May these not be their last days God take away their sickness And give them to me, I am unworthy to live It is my fault...

Even the French regime ideologues were allegedly offended by the opening ceremony of the Paris Olympics, including the 'philosopher' Alain Finkielkraut.
He described it in LeFigaro.fr (27 July) as "conformist" and "decadent" drivel, worse even than the Eurovision Song Contest, a grotesque spectacle lacking in "taste, grace, lightness, delicacy, elegance, beauty": "We even had a threesome."
Key sentence: "The deluge that befell the City of Light could only be divine punishment. Every cloud has a silver lining: after that apocalyptic evening, I became a believer."

If anyone follows happenings in the Orthodox world, what Bartholomew is complaining about is par for the course. Orthodoxy has been plagued by ethnocentrism for centuries. In other words, it's more about being Greek, Russian, Serbian, Ukrainian, etc. They even have a term for it: phyletism.

"It was amazing watching Simone Biles last night and her marvelous performance," he told Fox News Digital. "And she is the GOAT. I mean, she's the greatest of all time. And it reminded me of watching Michael Jordan when I was a younger guy, the greatest of all time, that there was just something qualitatively different about Jordan. You know, he was surrounded by great players, but then there was Jordan. He was something else. The same with Simone. She's with the greatest gymnasts in the world, but when she performed, it was at this pitch of excellence, you know?"
