PopeBlessedPius IX extended the feast to the entire Church in 1849. There has been an arch-confraternity of the Precious Blood since 1815.

Italian Bishops Commit to Interfaith State Religion. Worse than Germany: On 25 June, the Italian Bishops' Conference signed an interfaith agreement titled "The Italian Way of Dialogue: Religions in the Public Sphere and for Social Cohesion" together with representatives of Christian, Jewish, Muslim, Buddhist, Hindu, Baháʼí and other religious communities. After the signing, the signatories met President Sergio Mattarella at the Quirinale Palace to present him with a copy of the pact.
