The Vatican Dicastery for the Liturgy, headed by Cardinal Arthur Roche, has ordered that the celebration of the Latin Mass in the Diocese of Helsinki will be transferred from St Henry's Cathedral to St Mary's church, reports Fides.Katolinen.fi (August 16).
The Mass has been celebrated regularly in the Cathedral since 2007, but only on the first Sunday of the month. The relocation of this monthly Mass will begin on September 1.
As he did in Melbourne, Cardinal Roche again justified the move with "the role of the Cathedral as a model and sign of unity for the whole local Church".

Military chaplain Rev .Paul Murphy, 52, was stabbed up to five times outside barracks in Galway, Ireland, at 10.45 p.m. on August 15.

An imposing 17th-century stone cross in Tréport, France, was found vandalized on the morning of the Feast of the Assumption. It was found in several pieces in the early morning hours.
The cross has been listed as a historical monument since 1913.
An investigation has been launched.
According to the first information provided by the mayor, the damage was caused by a group of drunken youths who were passing through the neighborhood at around 4 a.m. "We assume that they were in a state of rage," he said.

The bishops of Peru have announced on 14 August 14 the expulsion of the layman Luis Fernando Figari Rodrigo, 77, from the Sodalitium, a 'conservative' movement which he founded in 1971.
The decree was signed by the Secretary and Undersecretary of the Dicastery for Religious. Apart from the expulsion, no other ecclesiastical sanctions were imposed because Figari is not a cleric.
The Sodalitium has about 40 priests, 300 consecrated and 40,000 lay members. It was recognised by the Vatican as a Society of Apostolic Life in 1997 and had the facade of a doctrinally 'conservative' group fighting against liberation theology.
Figari left the community's leadership in 2012 when the Peruvian Alessandro Moroni Llabres was elected Superior General. Francis deposed him in 2018 and placed the Sodalitium under provisional leadership.
Figari has been publicly accused of "abuse" since 2015. Rumors speak of homosexual abuse, including minors.

Francis has appointed Mgr Orthasie Marcellin Herivonjilalaina, 44, Bishop of the Diocese of Ambatondrazaka (Madagascar).
He was previously Rector of the Toamasina Major Philosophical Seminary.
Monsignor Herivonjilalaina studied Philosophy at the Saint Paul Major Seminary and Theology at the Archdiocesan Seminary of Reggio Calabria, and obtained a Licentiate in Theology at the Pius XI Theological Institute and a Masters in Bioethics and Sexology (sic) in Messina, Sicily.
He later completed a doctorate on "Foundations and Perspectives of a Culture of Unity" (sic) at the Sophia University Institute of the Focolare Movement in Loppiano.

The Nigerian Bishops’ Conference has observed "an alarming increase in aberrations" in the liturgy throughout the country. In a document released on August 15 on NigeriaCatholicNetwork.com, they acknowledge that the perpetrators are "some of our own priests".
The abuses and "grave violations" include:

This year, in a break with past tradition, it was forbidden to celebrate Mass in the Olympic Village, the Polish Olympics chaplain, Father Edward Pleń, told Tysol.pl (August 14).
He has been a chaplain for Polish athletes for 22 years. Until this summer it was always possible to celebrate Mass, but with restrictions during the Covid hysteria in Tokyo and Beijing.

Monsignor José Domingo Ulloa, Archbishop of Panama invites to an inter-religious event on today's Feast of the Assumption of Our Lady. It is called "Afternoon of the Temples".
Participants will be able to visit twelve temples between 2:00 p.m. and 6:00 p.m. The temples offer different cultural activities, including music, architecture, culture, history and most important: gastronomy. There are also folkloric dances, lectures on religious beliefs and pagan rituals.
The event was celebrated for the first time on August 15, 2023.
Monsignor Ulloa calls the afternoon "a reflection of our religious diversity, which unites and strengthens us as a nation".
The event is being organized in collaboration with Hindus, Muslims, Methodists and Rabbi Gustavo Kraselnick, a homosexual activist.
