The parish priest of Gmünd (population: 5000), Hw. Radoslaw P., 38, has confessed to producing crystal meth. He has been in custody since late July. P. is from Poland, was ordained a priest for the Archdiocese of Warsaw in 2014, and has worked in Gmünd, Diocese of St. Pölten, Austria, since 2021. The priest is a drug addict ("I've consuming it for two years"), suffers from depression and has accumulated debt. He started the Crystal Meth production (street value: €32,500 per kilo) on July 13 and filmed the process (16 hours). "Breaking Bad 2," he joked in a chat about himself. After the tip from a witness, prosecutors ordered a house search. Police found drug precursors and laboratory equipment for the production of Crystal Meth. The priest had not yet succeeded in producing the drug. The police beat him to it. He was still in the early stages. Attempting to manufacture drugs is punishable by up to 15 years in prison.
